We’ve established a plot of garden, but we’re …. going to change it all around next year! Learning the land is a wild first step, and it’s been insightful!
Let’s GROW! 🌱
Just a little pea harvest for today. We’re not having the easiest time with this garden. I can admit to you by mid August, this is far more establishing than it is thriving. But there’s a cucumber, a zucchini, two types of beans, peas, carrots, and onions. There’s a jalapeno and tomatoes of various types, including an almost ripe strawberry and all the blueberries we got. So, I mean, it’s a bay laurel. You don’t like chomp on them, but how cute are these? Now, I know where the sun hits. Now I know where to move things. And we’ve decided we’re going to spread the garden over by that yucka plant next spring. because that’s where the sun is. You can see the shadow where the sun is hitting the strongest for more hours so we can do cold weather crops in this one. And I’m hoping I don’t want to take down the chain link fence. But I think we should do another one right next door. I put the strawberry back out cuz I felt like it was too moist and it wasn’t actually getting any breeze or air or anything. And in here you can see we have the very first strawberry is almost formed. The time has come to harvest the seeds of the cilantro. The cilantro has been here long enough. It’s finally time to get the seeds off of it. So that’s what we’re going to work on. Grabbing all of these things. These are almost ready, but not quite brown enough yet. Getting closer. One gone. That’s fine. And there we have it. That’s what’s happening there. The mint is growing fine. The dill is still flowering. So, I think what I’ll do is take it and just start to dry that out. But more cilantro seeds from the cilantro. And we’re not even I think that’s like half of them. Oh, some new peas have come up. I suppose that’s fine. See what happens. Things are occurring. And I have to get some more tomatoes out of here. It’s time. You want to see? I don’t think you’d eat it. I I don’t think you would eat it. All right, I’m coming. Gross. I’m trying to get there. This thing is just ready to be eaten. The most delicious leaves. Incredible. See, that’s not the worst. I think it’s time to get some of these beans. It’s happening. I was like, when when the hell are these going to grow? And they’re so cute when they finally do. More than anything, like all of the ways I’ve seen pollination happening over here from all of these things is pretty astounding. This one horrifying cucumber that’s growing. Whatever. It is what it is. It’s a start. We have to change the way these things are. Yeah. It’s time to grab some beans. a jalapeno and a few other tomatoes. Heat. Heat. It’s just a big old bag of beans. This is ready. Cherry Maiders. We’ll take those. Those leaves smell so good. This is just a really big plant and it’s got a lot of other plant wrapped up in it. I would absolutely change this and buy much bigger stands to hold it. Yeah. Let’s get these out. These bags work wonders. Or hornworms simply haven’t found our house yet. It’s all I can say. It’s pretty good. Things are still happening here. Oh, there are a few that have been found. Chomped into. Maybe we’ll get some wild tomatoes later. I couldn’t tell you. Wouldn’t be mad. Everything else looks normal at this point. This is what’s happening. This is it. I don’t know what else to tell you. What even were these? What even What even was the point of those? Like that’s I don’t know. Admit when the garden does have some fails because it does. Everything else seems pretty good. They’re chill. This is ridiculous. This is adorable. This is nothing wrong with that. Let’s make sure these guys come back inside. Can I just Can I Exc can I just Yeah, you’re going to find a new situation there. It is what it is. I don’t think this was fertilized enough to do anything this year. We’re going to have to plant, I don’t know, six more to get something happening. But the beans have been happy. Glad to know that tomatoes can grow, peppers can grow. They just need more sunlight. So, oh, I guess now would be the time I can tell you of the expansion. Let me just bag up one more section of tomatoes. And I have some explaining to do. See that shade? That’s not good. See that sun? That’s good. There is power going out to that pole. It’s very old because this twining tree trunk of a maple grew up later over. But we have power that has run out there and that can absolutely assist having a garden plot here where there’s a lot more sun. I mean, I’m not going to change what’s happening here. I’d be open to moving the greenhouse and expanding down here toward that weird yuka that I don’t know. Just a poor thing. I think should be cleaned up. But expanding out so that we go from here over this way will give us a lot more sunlight. And then taking this shrub out. I think we should go this direction and then utilize this space right here because if we go too far close to the garden, it’s going to block being able to get a vehicle through here. So, we just want to take this upper area and make this like a corner. I would We’re open to taking that shrub out and then utilizing just all of this around that tree as an edge cuz everything needs more sunlight. It just does. And we’re not willing to completely destroy the trees right here. Just the pine trees. They’re kind of a problem. I love trees, but they’re also very sick. So anyway, that’s the plan.
