A popular campaign has raised more than £31,000 for a South West hospice.
The Glorious Gardens campaign raised £31,471 for St Margaret’s Hospice Care after more than 50 gardens opened across 31 locations in Somerset, inviting guests to explore the green spaces and enjoy tea, cake, and conversation.
This helped to raise money for the hospice, which provides care to people with life-limiting illnesses.
Head gardener Caroline Slocombe said: “Having worked at the Taunton hospice for six years, I’ve heard so many stories of how our gardens support patients and their loved ones.
“For some, it’s as simple as watching the birds or squirrels from their window; others have enjoyed picking flowers, growing tomatoes, or simply spending time outdoors with visitors.”
St Margaret’s Hospice gardens in Taunton and Yeovil serve as sanctuaries for patients and their families, offering a calming and accessible environment.
Community partnerships fundraiser Holly Hackett said: “Every pound raised through Glorious Gardens helps ensure that our patients can receive compassionate, specialist care when they need it most.
“From nursing visits at home to emotional support for families, the impact of this campaign reaches far beyond the garden gate.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who opened their gardens, baked cakes, or came along to any of the openings.
“Whether you have a courtyard, allotment, or country garden, every space can make a difference.”
This year’s campaign was sponsored by Greenslade Taylor Hunt, whose support helps make the event possible.
St Margaret’s is now looking forward to next year and is already inviting gardeners across Somerset to take part in Glorious Gardens 2026.
