With many gardens already bursting with colour as roses start to bloom around town, the decision to hold this year’s annual Rose Show a week earlier will be well received.

Hosted by the Gunnedah Show Society Ladies Auxiliary at the Smithurst Theatre, on Friday and Saturday this week, entries will be taken from 8am to 11.30am on Friday.

For a gold coin donation, visitors will be treated to a stunning display of blooms from town and country gardens across 13 sections. The doors open on Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Roses of all colours will be on display including sections for white, bi-colour, mauve, yellow, pink, and red and the beautiful Peace rose.

There is also a section for miniature roses, orange coloured and the exquisite Double Delight.

Gardeners with any other colour not mentioned can also enter their blooms, along with Floribunda and a separate section for a vase of six roses of different colours.

The coveted Mitre 10 Champion Rose of the Show, will be awarded at the end of judging. Auxiliary members are grateful for section prizes donated by the business community.
