The popular garden centre, on Warrington Road in Glazebury, hosts the opening every year.
The car park was full before the opening began, with visitors of all ages arriving to see the festive displays.
Shoppers gathered in front of a stage at 11am, where Matthew Bent and the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain, formally opened the event.

Bents’ in house team of merchandisers styled the displays, which feature 12 different themes.
“It’s a massive team effort, we have an incredible team here at bents,” said Matthew.
“They make it all possible. It takes us over 12 months to plan and bring everything together.
“It’s a huge logistical challenge but we’re all up for it.”
The Mayor cut the ribbon to open the displays to the public after a speech in which he referred to the garden centre as a ‘local treasure’.
“[The Christmas opening] is a wonderful annual tradition that marks the start of the festive season here in Warrington and beyond,” he said.

“Each year bents brings people together with creativity and community spirit.
“Bents is not just a garden centre; it’s a local treasure.
“For a generation it has grown from a family business into one of the region’s best destinations.”
Elves roller skated around the garden centre while Fat Cat Brass Band provided the soundtrack to the occasion.
This year’s themes include Nature’s Treasures, centred around a festive potting shed, and Monochrome Madness which is Alice and Wonderland themed – a nod to the new light trail opening next month.
