Brethren Care residents crafted pumpkins that won’t spoil, thanks to the Art of Gardening Club.
The annual project on Oct. 1, led by Ruth Ann Linder, saw residents create toilet tissue pumpkins, according to a community announcement.
Club members provided the materials, including fabric, cinnamon sticks and artificial leaves. Kathy Bargar added cookies and candy to the festive scene.
Maryanne Wise, a newcomer and friend of member Pat Edwards, joined the group in assisting residents. Other participating members included Lee Heckman, Patty Stauffer and Claudia Dunn.
Residents Joanna Hynek and Pat Johnson diligently tucked in the fabric on their pumpkins. Judy Rickey returned to a word search game after completing her pumpkin, and Phyllis McCulla said her creation would sit by her bed.
Stephanie Peterson was elated with the final appearance of her pumpkin, likening it to a ray of sunshine.
Paige Reynolds and Chloee Johnson, life enrichment assistants at Brethren Care, also lent a helping hand.
In addition to the morning craft session, Brethren Care hosted an all-campus Fall Carnival Wednesday afternoon. The event included a petting zoo, snacks and carnival games, according to Reynolds.
