Oh , she is a beauty. Oh man, look at that. She isn’t new, but she looks it. He said the engine needs to be overhauled. I can handle that. I can’t believe he’s asking for so little. This is a bargain. John Anderson said she could sit in his marina free of charge for a year until a son comes back. Oh, here he comes. Don’t show we’re so keen on her or he won’t lower the price. Sure, sure. Isn’t she a beauty? A little work and she’ll be in perfect condition. Yes, be honest with me. She needs more than a little work, doesn’t she? What’s the best price for the K? A boat like this is worth around 6,000. Six grand is a joke? Six is a steal. The owner died and his mother needs to get rid of her fast. Sure. The engine is gone and there’s a lot to do to the hull too. She could n’t be sane. Look at the condition she’s in. She’s practically staos. Hey, we’re just simple folks. We don’t have that kind of money. Getting a boat like this for six is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Can we think about it for a minute? It’ll only take a minute. Terry, huh? A lot of people are interested, I tell you. I’d have 800. Shit, you work your ass off and barely have a penny. Where did you get 800 bucks? I won here gambling. Honestly? Yeah. Come on, you’ve got some money too. Yeah, but I’m just about to close the deal. I could put in 800, but I want to work for Dad for less because business is going crazy. I bet if Uncle Howard was here, he’d lend it to us. I thought so too, but he’s out. They have telephones in China, too. That’s just like a hairdryer, isn’t it? It’s smaller, but it’s in much better condition than we can really afford. Remember when we were little? Uncle Howard bought us the boat in Ireland. Was that one summer? I must have the money. We could pay it off with the installments. I won a lot of money on the lottery last week. Can you believe it? Four. Should we do it? Yes, let’s do it. Okay. Damn it . Why do you need a boat? How are you going to pay for it? It’s a used one. So you want to take over the other guy’s junk? No, we’ll do an incredible job fixing it up. You should see. Reconditioned, it’s like new. Pay more attention to the restaurant and dream less about the open sea. You’re a accomplished boy if you keep your feet on the ground. I wasn’t born to run a restaurant. Remember when Uncle Howard bought us the boat? Back when we were kids? Was that one summer? Your Uncle Howard is opening a clinic in China? He’s even learning Chinese now. Just imagine, such difficult language at his age. I think it’s brilliant. It leaves me cold. But that shouldn’t leave you cold, because the man earns more money in a week than you do in a year. He has clinics in Switzerland and in Hollywood and now in China. Hollywood, that’s where he belongs. All those show-offs queuing up like crazy for his plastic surgery . Can we have Sunday lunch one day without discussing the topic? Oh, he makes such a fuss. Thinks he’s so great. We could only afford this house because my brother was so generous. Would we have been able to make ends meet for years on his meager earnings? Who paid for all our vacations? Who lent us money when we needed it, when he wanted to open his restaurant? If my damn partner hadn’t stolen from me, that gave me a heart attack. Howard started with nothing and paid for his medical school himself. And now he’s a millionaire with top-notch clientele, but he’s never forgotten his family. Let this be a lesson to you. Ultimately, the only thing you can rely on in life is your family. And don’t forget that. I got us the rest of the money. What? We can pay for the boat. Besides, we still have some money for that barometer you wanted to buy for the cabin? Two of my fast dogs made it. Yes, in the first and fifth races. I I’ve won twice. We’ll be finished before the weekend. On Saturday we’re setting off on our maiden voyage. And what do we want to name her? We have to give her a name before we set off. Dream. So, here’s my 60 Z, an outsider 60:1. Terry is a lucky name after all. Have a nice weekend. Would you like to come with us for a trip on the Cassandra Stream? What is Cassandra Stream? My brother and I bought a run-down boat and got ourselves back into shape. We’re going out tomorrow. He’s taking his girlfriend and I’d love it if you’d like to too. Yes, I think it’s great. Sounds great. The weather is supposed to be good. Put the bag in there. All right, go ahead. I ‘m a bit lonely back here. Oh, two, introduce me. Show me the show me the go to how she goes. Oh man, isn’t life wonderful? Do you know where that comes from? What film? Isn’t life wonderful? No. Bonnie and Cly, the two Barrow brothers, are in a good mood right now, and Kleid says, “Isn’t life wonderful?” You know what happened to them? Do you find life wonderful, Kate? I find it wonderful when I’m with you. Yes. What an answer. What can I say? That woman loves me. I love you too, my dear. I’ll tell you something. I never want to go back to that stupid restaurant. Oh, and what are you going to do? Yeah, remember when Mons took me to Uncle Howard in California, how he made his life better? Oh yes, I never dream such dreams. What would be the point? Oh man, you know, it breaks my heart to see him like this. But as soon as he ‘s back on his feet, I have to get out of there. I have to get my own life in order. Where are you going? Some friends of mine are investing in hotels in California. I was thinking, it’s an incredibly beautiful day there too, not many clouds. Really great. You see, that’s the pole with the cabanas here, and a new hole of golf is being built. That looks really great. I mean, nothing will happen there until the end of the year. But I’ll tell you one thing, buddy. Whoever invests in it is making a fortune. Yeah, right, I see the potential. So one’s being built in the Caribbean, and the one in California has a spa. I’ll keep you posted. Hey, where were you when we had sex? What do you mean? Your mind was elsewhere. There’s this real estate project, you’re sure to blow up, but the years go by. You’re so stressed all the time, even in bed. I’ve only seen you relaxed once. That was on your boat. Terry is going out on the boat tomorrow. He’s invited Ke’s brother and sister for a spin. We didn’t have much fun with that, but I was thinking maybe you ‘d like to come out into the country with me for a day. Yes, I’d like to. I know a very beautiful lake. I could perhaps get a car from Terry’s garage. The guy there sometimes likes one of his classic cars. Have you ever worked outdoors? There’s a first for everything. I think I should go back and help you. I ‘ll be right back. I can’t drink too much red wine during the day. It goes to my head. Can I help? Thanks. I have no idea what to do. Damn, I know a bit about cars. My brother’s a mechanic. Oh, it was running perfectly and then there was this horrible bang and it went away. Let me take a look. Yes. Well, they have their quirks. Yes, I think yours is nice. Yes, it is a nice piece, isn’t it? I haven’t had it long. An old Jaguar is really sexy. Thanks again for stopping by. Oh, we’re happy to do that. I’m Angela Stark. Ian Blin. Do you live here? No, I live in London. Yes, I live there too. What do you do? At the moment I’m in the restaurant business, but actually investments. Well, I owe him one. I’ll leave him two tickets for my show. Oh, you’re an actress? Yes. What’s your name? Ian Blane. Okay, I’ll reserve you two tickets for Silton. When do you want to come? Uh, Tuesday. Good. Yes. And then tell me backstage how great I was? Yeah, right. Oh, look, that’s Terry. and Ian and my brother Howard. May I see that? Howard looks so impressive? Yes, that was the year Howard was with them at the World Cup. I used to be a very good soccer player. Yes, until he broke his leg. I always hoped Herry would be one too. You were really good. He was a top athlete. I always told you, open a sports shop. Yes, but I would have needed capital for that. A shop like that costs a lot of money, but then you wouldn’t be your own boss. Yes, Terry was the sportsman and Ian was the one with the brains, she wants to say. No, she thinks I’m offended, but I see it that way too. Everyone predicted something big for him. He looks so nice and likeable. So it’s a mystery to me that he isn’t more successful because he isn’t satisfied with what he has. He would love to be like Howard with such a fancy life. He always has some kind of plan. He’s there waiting for his ship to arrive. Well, his ship isn’t sailing into the restaurant. He’s doing that out of the love of a son for his father. What does that poem say? The only ship that sails safely has black sails. Just run, run. Yeah, run over there. Shit. Can I get another 200? That’ll be 800. I know I can count. Hello. From work. You’re so sweet. Did I get her something? No. Look inside. It’s crazy. Oh my God. Oh wow. You’re completely crazy. Do you like it? Like it ? It’s beautiful. I wanted you to have it. God. Oh man. What’s wrong with it? Oh, I’m not even going to ask you, another price. I know where you got it. You won’t believe it. You won’t believe it. First I lost and then I got really lucky. I was already way in the red, but then I had the right instinct. I don’t know why. It’s clear it’s not your birthday, but you like it and I think that’s great of you. It’s fantastic. Thank you, thank you very much. The work is amazing. Look at my bag. My boyfriend doesn’t need to know. Find out what? What are we going to do? What are we going to do? What do you want to do? That’s a very underhanded way of betraying Alan, of deceiving him so openly. I never said I was being nice. Actually, I think that’s why you’re so keen on me. It was one of those on those on those Angela. Oh, she’s fantastic. Thank you very much. The director added a scene at the last minute and it completely threw us off. No, nobody noticed. I thought that was very good. That was very kind of you. You were all great. Thank you for the tickets. Oh, thank you for rescuing me. I thought the play was wonderful. And you, you were very special. Special. What do you mean? Well, you know. May I buy you a drink? So, all right, me now. Oh, okay. See you. Sunday evening, sure. Yes, definitely. Great. I’m looking forward to it. Sorry. What did you want to say? I was just wondering if we could go for a drink. Yes, of course. Just one glass, though. I have to get up early tomorrow morning. I’m shooting a film for the BBC. Did you mind being naked on stage every night and then having these hot sex scenes? That’s just acting. I’m not really inhibited in these matters. I mean, the key point of my role is to radiate strong eroticism. You were very convincing. All the people were completely taken aback. I think it’s a very moral play. Don’t you think it’s moral? To what extent it ‘s about evil and fate. I’m not an experienced theatergoer. I think the whole tendency is quite pessimistic, and it also tells us a lot about life as a tragic experience. We are in control of our own destiny. I believe that. Yes, I actually believe that too. Hen, this is E. Pell. I wanted your phone number. I thought you would n’t be mad at me. He also said, “Angrily,” when would he get in touch? If anything happens, I want to know everything. So, I guess I have to go now. Thank you again for helping me on the street . You appeared in my dreams for two more nights. To be rescued. is one of my sinful dreams. It’s not a great sin to be saved, though. It’s what they did to me afterward. Will we see each other again? Try it. They know where to find me. Hey, Terry. Hey Mike, everything alright? Got my money? Yeah, hang on a minute. You just got a little lucky with the cards. Yeah, not just the cards. I backed some winners with the dogs. You know my theory yet? No, spit it out. Luck comes in phases. Always strike while the iron is hot. Yeah, right. And, uh, what’s the most you’d be willing to risk? What’s the most? I don’t know. I’m a realist. I mean, I don’t want to end up in debt to guys for the rest of my life. With vultures like you chasing me for the money. Why do you ask? Well, every Friday night there’s a big game at the Airbon Hotel. You know the one? Yeah. We’re talking about big sums of money, man. I don’t know if that’s your cup of tea. How much? Well, let’s put it this way: Samy Bush said 60 grand last week. Oh, I can’t compete with that. I just thought you were deep in the woods, so I thought you might be up for it. 60 grand. Well, I just wanted to let you know, that’s all. Sure, Mike, I’ll let you know. Yeah, it’s good. Good luck. Acker. Not too much. Yes, all right. I think it’s great. Yes, it’s very nice. Good. I’m glad you like it. Yes, it’s lovely. I also think 295 is a very good price. It’s quite expensive though, isn’t it? Prices are rising all the time. This is their chance, because they’d be the first to bid. There’s no catch. So, that’s something they should bear in mind. We ‘re thinking about it. Right, well then. I think it’s really great. Lovely. I’m just thinking about the costs. Oh, we’ll manage. With what I earn at work and your wages, it’s easy. I also want to practice my trumpet somewhere without anyone complaining. You can practice anywhere. You don’t play anymore anyway. You and your trumpet. You like it. Yes, it has a small garden too. All right, we’ll find a way to do it. Honestly? Completely honest. Yes, I think it’s great. 15,000, 15 grand. No, I’m out. Yes, me too. And 15,000 from you, Terry. Sure. Okay. And look. I’m broke. Give me 5,000, do you want 10? No, just 5,000. Thanks. Yes, are I okay? It’s nice to see her. Angela. Hey, lovely, are you leaving already? Oh, hey, Bab. Hey, I left my phone at your place. Will you pick it up tomorrow? Okay, that’s great. You were great today. Thank you. So, I, well, I was in the area and I was wondering if you were free today. Oh no. No, actually I’m not. Um, I’d rather go for a drink with you than go to that other thing, but I can’t really get out of it. Well, I, I don’t understand. I was only trying. Maybe you don’t have anything planned tomorrow. I have a photo shoot in Brighton. A photo shoot? Yes, I’m modeling something. You could come with me if you like. We’d have the afternoon to ourselves then. Yes. Yes. That’s fine. Terry, Terry, it’s great to have you. I know it’s early, but I have an important one. I won 30,000 pounds last night. 30,000 pounds playing poker. 30 grand? Yes. Well, put it in the bank and gamble. It’s a feeling. I was completely dizzy. It was like I stepped out of my body. Every hand, every bet. So lucky, man. So lucky. You bastard. Shall I tell you something? What? The greatest thrill is losing, knowing I was so close to being out and yet holding on. What about Kate? She must be completely out. She doesn’t know. No, no, she’ll never understand. Not such high stakes. I also need the money for another game. Carry, if I lose it again, I lose it. Okay, my goal is to save enough to buy the house for us. Then I’ll tell her. Of course. Well, I guess this is a good time to ask you if I can save a few hundred on my own. Of course, what’s mine is yours. Thanks. 30 grand, that’s a lot of money. Terry, what are you doing here at this hour? I need to get the Excale again. Oh, it’s not here, bro. What? Got a hot date? Yeah. How do you know? Well, lend me some money and that nice car too. Yeah, what do I do now? I need the car. There’s another nice Italian one here. Oh yeah, I promised to bring it back today, but then it won’t be ready until tomorrow. I want to see it. Oh, it’s beautiful. Yeah, it’ll do. You’ve been playing the tough guy since we were our grown-ups. It’s okay. Don’t push my nose in it. You should see the woman. She’s incredibly beautiful. But how do you not find it junk, I’d get into a lot of trouble. Man , for crying out loud. Where were you yesterday? I couldn’t come. You were supposed to be here. Nobody knew what to do. You weren’t here and you did n’t even answer your phone. I’m sorry. Excuse me. You beautiful at 103 in the afternoon. We had an audit yesterday. Now these guys have us. Yes, I’m sorry. Sometimes I have a life of my own. And what were you doing? Some stupid financial business or is it about a woman? Terry said so, you had… Yes, I was with a woman and I’ve never been with a woman like that before, Dad. She’s beautiful, has style, and is smart. Leave it, leave it now. When they arrived, they found these two literary geniuses floating around in the middle of the ocean in their life jackets, sipping Martinus. That’s exactly what I was about to say. Sailing can be dangerous. Ien has a boat too. Oh really? Oh, just a small sailboat. Yes, I’ve always wanted to go sailing around the Greek islands. Oh yes, that would be great fun. Can you sleep on the boat? Yes, that’s possible. It’s narrow, but yes, that’s possible. And what do you do for a living, marriages? I run hotels in California. Not bad. Come on now, let’s dance. For me, you know what? The two of them make a beautiful couple. I think it’s their duty to reproduce. Will you go sailing with me? Yes, of course. I love that. You’re already embarrassed in front of my friends. That’s very sweet. Come with me to the Greek Islands. Take me around the world. I want the two of us to go to California. Terry. I have to ask you about money again, I’m sorry. And I’m asking you, can you tell me the ex or the one again? What’s the matter with you? Do you look like you’ve gotten along. I lost a lot of money last night at cards. And how much? A lot. Come with me. What do you mean a lot? How much? I’ve lost the 30 again. Yes. Plus 90,000 pounds. Terry, have you lost your mind? I was kind of in a state of turmoil. I knew what was happening. But I kept going. Well, this is making me sick. How are you ever going to pay back 90,000? I have to. I borrowed it at a high interest rate. What kind of loan? Terry, those Karls are breaking your bones. I borrowed more and more. I thought I’d turn my luck around, but it only got worse. I’d like to have sympathy, but you make me so angry. 90,000 pennies. What am I supposed to do? I don’t know what to do, and you’re not helping yourself at all with the whiskey and the pills. I have migraines. Eh, don’t pick on me. I need help. And how am I supposed to help you? Terry. Terry, I’m just a small-timer myself, playing the big guy in bourne cars. I don’t have a penny. You’ve put anything aside? Did you say so yourself? No, I’ve saved some money for this business venture, this investment, the hotel thing. But yeah, I don’t have enough for that either. How am I supposed to help you? Well, I’ll have to borrow some of it to at least make a few payments to tide you over until I figure out what to do. And what are you going to do? I don’t know. Say something. Terry, I came here to talk to you, and now you want my savings. For God’s sake . I’m really in trouble. Yes, you’re really in trouble. Happy birthday, man. All right. Well, I’m doing perfectly fine , and you two look like you’re carrying the weight of the world. No, no, it’s nothing. No, it’s nothing. We’re fine. I’m fine. Me too. No, don’t say that. I woke up at 3 a.m. last night and he wasn’t here. I went into the living room, and there he was, talking to himself. What does that mean? Well, your dad’s starting to get it, too. He’s forgetting names, getting things mixed up. In Terri’s case, though, it won’t be dementia. More like cheap whiskey. Don’t talk like that. She thinks he’s an alcoholic because he has your genes. M, what did you get from Uncle Howard? Flowers. Aren’t they lovely? Oh, they’re lovely. And Fund. He never forgets, Howard doesn’t. What does that matter to him? It’s ridiculous. If I were so fortunate, I’d send you a decent sum. But you’re not. We’ll always be dependent on Howard, and thank God the man is a treasure. Did he say where he is? Yes, he was still in China, but now he seems to be recovering in Thailand. Mar, can I speak to you for a moment? Yes, I need to borrow some money. How much? As much as you can give me of the 1,000 pounds. Anything, if you can. And what happened? Did a great streak of luck suddenly come to an end? And what was it? Cards or dice? Oh, damn it, it doesn’t make any difference. Stop lecturing, M. Okay, I’ll pay it back. From what? You owe everyone you know money. If I give you my birthday present, I’ll never see you again. Well, never mind. Okay, I knew I was asking the wrong question. Well, your dad needs it to pay off the bank. The restaurant is bleeding him dry. Then he should close it down. It’s his whole life to him. It’s not about the money. And what’s not helping your dad get the place back on track? He doesn’t have many options and his heart isn’t in it, but at least he has a conscience. You ‘ve never had a conscience, and Brian isn’t the man he used to be. Ca n’t Uncle Howard help? He’s far too proud to ask Howard, and he doesn’t want me to. Oh, the two of them have never gotten along. You’re always rubbing Hafolg in my face, too. Don’t preach here. Drinking and gambling, that’s your solution to life’s problems. There’s someone at the restaurant who’s passing me by. What? Yes, I suspect Louis, the accountant. It’s quite logical, but I’ve known him for years and I can’t bring myself to accuse him. Oh, Dad, it is… It wasn’t Louis, it was me. You? Yes, but I didn’t steal it. I fully intended to put it back in. I hope you know I’d never pass you by. It’s just that Terry got into debt , and I wanted to help him out, and to do that, I needed some of the money I ‘d set aside for business ventures. What business ventures? Do you want out of the restaurant? Yeah, sure, someday, Dad. I can’t stay here forever. That would be the end of me. But not next week or so. So I met an incredible woman. You have money here with us. No, I want to explain. You just don’t want to listen. I was hoping I could put it away before you even noticed. I wasn’t planning on getting away with anything, and and and I only did it because Terry and I were in a bind. What are these business ventures? Investments in hotels. Hell, what do you know about hotels? Uncle Howard is visiting us. Uncle Howard is coming to see us. He’s visiting us tomorrow. He’ll only be here for a very short time, and then he’ll fly back to the States, but he’s treating us all to dinner. For my birthday. Yes, he’ll definitely make a big entrance, and then you won’t see him for another two years . He’s a busy man. He doesn’t have time to sit in front of the TV, watch football, and drink beer. Get out of my way, Brian. Thanks. My plan is to prepare everything meticulously, and with a bit of luck, we can seal the deal. We’re finishing up earlier than we expected. And I’m going to ask my Uncle Howard if he can introduce you to some of the big names in Hollywood. Oh, I don’t mean to be intrusive. No, no, no. He works with a lot of people in the film industry. He gets around a lot. He plays golf with some top directors and even some studio bosses. Oh, this would be a really great opportunity for me. Yes, it’s a good time to ask him for that favor. And you’re so beautiful and talented. You just need the chance to meet some of the right people. Ah, there he is. Oh my God, honey, it’s great to see you. Congratulations here. Please, Uncle Hauer, this is K. Thank you, I’ve heard a lot about them. Well, they’re probably exaggerating, you look. So, of course, I’ve made a reservation at Clares. Listen to the Jag, but about your stomach ulcer, have you seen the doctor I recommended? Was I? Yes. Yes. He says it’s nothing serious. Well, they are. What time did we make our reservation? One o’clock. So, you’d be surprised at what’s happening in China these days. It’s a very vibrant and exciting country. The economy is constantly growing and I, well, our clinic is doing really well. Yes, I didn’t realize the Chinese were so into plastic surgery, were they? No. Ah, they’re capitalists, Kate. They’re much more capitalistic than we are. I was hoping you’d bring your new wife. I would love to meet her. Oh, I know. Con, well, Connie is very busy. She has a lot of work with PR for our clinic over in LA. So, but she would have loved to come. It is and Howard, do you never think about starting a family? You are my family. Howard, how, Howard, thank you, Howard. That’s sweet. Are you all right? Are you hungry? Well, we’re getting along, thank God. But you know, Howard, I know the guys wanted to talk to you. Boys, I was just telling Howard that you’d like to speak to him alone. Yes, if you have some time, if it’s convenient for you. Well, we’ll drop Brian and Dolpothy off first and then we’ll go for a drink. Just the three of us. Boys, that’s power. Thanks honey, you made my day. I couldn’t fight it, Uncle Howard. We talked about it and I gave you my word, but sometimes I just lose control, you know? I’m going to get help. I promise it’ll never happen again. Good God, Terry, stop moaning. Uncle Howard is n’t even giving her a piece of his mind. He just had a little too much to drink. Well, I’m not being a judge. I’m advising common sense. I understand human need. Yes, fine, but I know I’ve gotten myself into a mess and I realize how serious the situation is. Yes, yes, I get it. So just pull yourself together. Pull yourself together now. I’m not going to lecture you. Losing such a large sum is a lesson in itself. More than anything I could say. Oh God, I feel like I’m in a dream right now. Well, everyone makes mistakes. You have to get a grip on it. The deciding factor is that you need help, you understand? Yes. And Ian, what’s on your mind? Well, you always said that if I found something I wanted to devote myself to, I should come to you. Ehen met a woman. Let me tell you, Terry. I have the chance to get involved in a surefire business deal. Well, there’s no such thing as a surefire deal. Keep talking. My partners want to invest in two hotels. In your area, more specifically in Los Angeles. And of course, that requires certain investments, which you ‘ll naturally get back with interest. As long as the hotels make a profit. You will, Uncle Hauer, you will. And how much are we talking about? 70 or 80,000 out of possibly 100. And if my accountants could take a closer look at your details, that would be helpful. Yes, I’m grateful for any good advice, of course, but I need the money. I was very quick. And who is the young woman? Yes, well, we’re planning on moving to California. She’s an actress. I was wondering if there were any people you might want to introduce her to. Oh yes, sure. I never contact a budding talent. Ah, she would be so grateful. As am I. I’m obviously crazy about her. I ‘m well acquainted with a lot of people in the film industry, and a few of them. I feel like it’s now or never for me. Oh yes, yes, I know that feeling. You see a real opportunity and you want to take the chance. Otherwise, you’ll spend your whole life wondering what could have been. We’ll both find a way to pay you back. Well, that’s exactly what I wanted to talk about. Let’s stand under the trees there. So I think you might agree with me that reciprocal family loyalty is reassuring. Yes, undoubtedly. God, thank God I’ve never had to ask you for anything, but now is the time when I need your help. Just come out with it, Uncle Howard, whatever it is. Yes, I seem to have maneuvered myself into a bit of a bind. Yes, actually, it’s very serious, isn’t it? After careful consideration, there’s no alternative. Clearly. There will be an audit in a few months of my business affairs , the foundation’s affairs, and the clinics, and there’s a former employee who wants to go public, and that could be of considerable market value. Yes, considerable. But surely you don’t need to worry. Well, to be completely frank. I really can’t allow this colleague Martin Burns to reveal certain facts. But why? Excuse me, I don’t quite follow you. I find myself in a very critical position, and the consequences could be fatal. And what options are there? Is this Martin Burns unwilling to accept reason? Well, unfortunately, I’ve had various discussions with him, and he doesn’t see my point. Why not? Isn’t it just a question of money? No, absolutely not. I don’t think compensation could change his mind. Frankly, that’s a path I don’t want to go down. And then which one? Uh, I think BS will have to be eliminated. Eliminated? Is there another solution? And believe me, I’ve racked my brains, but if he doesn’t disappear from the scene, I see myself behind bars for a very long time, possibly for the rest of my life. My God, what have you done? Don’t talk to me like that. Excuse me, I made some really, really difficult decisions to avoid bankruptcy. And when I made them, I was aware that I was taking a certain amount of risk, an enormous amount. I don’t have to tell you what it means to take risks. You can’t build something the way I did with always clean rules. You would even more so. Uncle Howard, he didn’t mean to be rude. You didn’t question my principles when you wanted something from me. Uncle Howard, we don’t question your principles. You probably know exactly what you’re doing . We’re just surprised, not surprised. Oh, what? Surprised by what? Surprised that I need help? Surprised that my life would be ruined? If this one wimp, this ungrateful loser decides to sell me to save his skin. But by eliminating, I mean, he mustn’t testify under any circumstances, whatever it takes. He wants us to kill him. I, I don’t see any other way out. I can’t beg for it. I can’t buy it, but it has to be done so I can survive. Oh God, God, act like a man. I don’t want to kill anyone. I need to know if you can help me. You’re the only ones I can turn to. But there must be men who do this kind of thing for a fee, I mean. No, I, I don’t know how to find a man like that, and even if they did, they’d always have something against me. in hand or they turn out to be some undercover cop or something. I mean, I’m in unfamiliar territory. I can only count on the help of people I can trust implicitly. I just can’t kill anyone. Oh, good. So, that ‘s it. And it’s perfectly fine to rely on me, your mother, your father, when he couldn’t even feed you. It’s perfectly fine for her to come to me. To me for every little thing. It’s about what you’re asking, Uncle. It’s obvious your difference exists. Bz might have an accident. Bz gets hit by a car or killed in a street fight. Good God, stop it. Stop the violence. What the hell is wrong with you? You guys come to me begging for favors. Help me, Uncle Howard, I need money. I’m in trouble. I made a mistake. Help me turn my life around. Oh, how can I help you? How am I supposed to be of any use to you if I just rot somewhere? Lord God, I can’t believe you’re putting me through this. I’ve done so much for you. It should go without saying. Family is family. Blood is blood. Nobody asks questions. You protect yours. I can’t do this. That’s not the point. I mean, this is about much more than a simple favor. Stop lecturing me. I’m not that old-fashioned. I know that. I know the implications of why, please, please forget it. I can’t do this. Of course you can. You have to make it look like an accident. It’s just that you don’t want to. I don’t have anyone else I can count on. Nothing, no offense. I did n’t ask you. Forget, forget that we know each other. We have nothing to do with each other anymore, because obviously your idea of family is totally different from mine. I’ve never seen him like this. He was so angry. He was a completely different person. He ‘s a criminal. But we don’t know all the details. Oh God, what did he expect? That we’d kill a guy for him? He was very desperate. If you look at it from his perspective, you can ask anyone for a favor that’s easy to do. But when you have to ask someone for a favor that’s a real favor, then you realize who your friends are. To think that we’d be capable of something like that. I agree. Family is one thing, but there are limits. You can never imagine something like that, can you? No, you definitely can’t. Do you have us now? He’s disappointed, I think. Yes, but so am I. This was a day of dashed hopes for you, me, and Howard. Do you think he’ll end up in jail for the rest of his life? I don’t know, the thought is unbearable. Terry, my hands are shaking. I don’t feel well. Ugh, oh God, I think I’m going to be sick. Okay. Terry, Terry, wake up. Terry, wake up. Wake up, wake up. Yes, yes. It’s all right. You had a bad dream. You had a bad dream. It’s all right. My heart is in heaven. Yes, you’re all sweaty. What were you dreaming about? K, we have to move away. What are you talking about? We can’t move away from here. Oh, yes, we have to leave here. No, we live here. This is our life. We won’t move away. What were you dreaming about, for God’s sake? Oh God, who is that? It’s 4 a.m. Oh God, who is that? Hello, it’s me. What’s wrong? All right. Who is that? We need to talk. What is it about? I don’t want to talk about it on the phone. All I’m saying is that I haven’t been able to sleep all night. I’ve been up a couple of times thinking and I’ve come to this conclusion. We need to do Uncle Howard this favor. He’ll be in London for the next couple of weeks . He has a flat in Nightsbridge. We need to know exactly what he looks like. I’d have breakfast with him at Conner, and I’ve made a lot of effort to maintain a good relationship with him. We both know what’s going on. That much is certain. Anyway, I’ll let you know when we get there, and then you can come too, and you can come to our table. and uh and I’ll introduce you to you and you can get a good look at him. Sounds good. We should know who who that is, the we the we You can’t even say it, Terry. You can’t even say what we’re talking about. No, wait, wait, wait, wait. I, I thought, I thought we’d covered that subject. We have, we have. We, we’ll take a good look at him in person. All right, I’ll give you all the information you need. Where he lives in London, his flat, when he visits his mother, the phone numbers and then it’ll be in your hands. Don’t disappoint me. I’ll be away for a few days and I want it done while I’m away. I don’t want to know anything about it. I just want it over and done with when I get back. Quickly, easily, without witnesses. And then the whole thing will just be history. You can count on us, Uncle Howard. You can. Yes, it’s quite clear I’m asking you for a particularly big favor, but I promise you guys, you won’t regret it. I can’t do this. I ca n’t do this. Yes, we will, Terry. Uncle Howard is depending on us. Ah, let’s not play games. You’re thinking about us, what’s in it for us. I’m not playing games, Terry. Your whole life is screwed up. Unless you know a way to pay off your 90,000 found debt. I’m not as cool as you are hers. I’m not cool, Terry. It’s hard for me not to panic, but this can be an outlet for me. Now, you don’t like playing small games, and neither do I. This is a great opportunity for me to finally get on top. It’s about murder. Sure. Yes, I know. Well, don’t forget it. You don’t have to tell me that, Terry. The guy’s just a complete stranger to us, up to some nasty thing with Uncle Howard. Why can’t he see reason? Why does the other person have to open his mouth in the mediator? Look, I’ve thought about it. You push a button and it’s over. Except there isn’t a button. Well, for heaven’s sake, why do you have to make everything worse? It’s just a job. If we become soldiers, we’ll have to kill people every day for the profit of people who are already corrupt . I can’t look him in the face and then kill him. That’s just wrong. Ugh, that’s wrong. Good God, will you stop looking at everything through a fucking microscope? Once you look too closely at something, you’re bound to find all the ugly imperfections. You know, for the first time in my life, I’ve met a woman I really love. And if you don’t want to do this, I’ll do it on my own. They ‘ll get us. Every murderer thinks they can get away with it and then something goes wrong and it’s over. No, you’re wrong, you’re wrong. Most murders go unsolved. The real world isn’t what you see on TV. It’s just that when we do, there’s no turning back. I, I think I know how you feel when you’re sitting at the poker table. I feel like I’m in a dream. I think we’ve got the winning hand and I’m going to take a chance. I want to push my luck. I can’t look him in the eye and then kill him. Okay, okay, sure. Then we’ll just watch him from a distance while he eats breakfast. All right. We’ll watch him closely and then there won’t be any mistake. Don’t stand there like that. I just want to memorize his face. The poor bastard, he’s breakfast. He has no idea his days are numbered. Life can be as mean as you guys. Are you looking at him closely, Terry? Will you remember his face? I certainly will. I just got a small role in the French film I auditioned for. The director said I look great in bed. Do you speak French? Mhm. Fluently, even. My uncle is learning Chinese at his age. I think that’s brilliant. Are you close? He lives in California, has a great house, a beautiful pool, Great car. It’s pretty great. Would you sleep with a director to get a role? Well, that depends on the role. And who the director is, and whether I’ve had enough to drink. That’s not a very comforting answer. Then I ask questions like that. Bernard. No, it’s not Bernard. It’s me. Lord God, I’ve been waiting out here all night. What are you talking about? But is Bernard coming out of your apartment in the morning? Did you follow me? Who is he? Is he the director or the producer of your new French film? I can’t believe you were waiting outside my apartment. Angela, I thought we had plans. What kind of plans? I thought we were going to go to California together. Jen, I have my life here. I can’t pack up and leave. You’ll have a business, and I’ll be working somewhere. You won’t have to live in a basement. I’m here for you and I’ll take care of you. I just don’t understand what you want from me. What do you want from me? I, I, I’m moody and I’m totally self-centered and I’m ambitious and behind that cool facade I can tell you’re just barking. No, I’m not barking. I’m taking you to California, Angela, definitely. And if you don’t think I’m going to do it, then say I’m barking. I’m taking you with me. Have you thought about how we’re going to take out Martin Brz? No, you’re coming with me. I’m talking about a hit-and-run. That’s tricky because someone could tell just by the sign and we can’t be sure he’s dead. There’s no way I’m sticking a knife in him. Why not? I just can’t. Can you? I don’t know, Terry. I don’t know what I’m capable of. I don’t know until then. You could kill him with a knife or with a hammer. I was even thinking about a robbery with a hammer. Good God, I don’t seem to know you at all. Uh, well, if we do it, it has to be nice and smooth and germ-free so we can still fool ourselves in the… I’m just saying that I have to keep my limits. A gun, quick. I’m just saying, let’s make this as humane as possible. Sure, we could acquire him with a wire. We can throw him on the ground, the two of us, and then acquire him with a wire. This isn’t us. These aren’t the Blin Brothers. The Bline Brothers are two losers. Terry. We can’t be particularly proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. So, if he chokes, he’ll fight back. Sure, we can overpower him, but it might get bloody. But we have to make a decision one way or another. We only have three weeks. I can’t talk about it. Let’s have a drink. Carol had an accident. Only I don’t think it was an accident. She was probably drunk when she got in the car. She didn’t care if she made it back to town. And when I tell you that I don’t care, that I’m even glad it happened. I wish it had been fatal. Maybe that will still happen. Everything is still so uncertain. It’s funny how it all comes down to one thing. Life is nothing but irony. As always. Wonderful. Very good. Very good. As always. That was great. There she is. Hello. Oh, hi. How are you? Hello. I’m fine. I’m hello. I’m very pleased. I’m not just pretending. Yes, I thought it was great. Thank you very much. It was very kind of you to come. Thank you very much. That means a lot to me. And what else are you planning? Do you want to join us? We’re going to a party. My boyfriend finished filming today. Yes, yes, yes. I’d be great. All right. Very nice. It’s busy there though. Terry, it might be a tight squeeze. Tuck in your stomach. Now I understand why you’re so crazy about Angela. She’s really different from any woman you’ve ever known. I’ve never been with anyone like her, and we ‘ve already fucked some hot chicks. Remember Fanella Griff? Listen, you passed on to me. How could I forget that? How? That sounds like it wasn’t exactly the greatest fall in the world. I never said she wasn’t wonderfully depraved. Angela is even better. She’s innocent and depraved too. She ‘s working class, but classy. And the way she smiles, Carry, how charming. Yes, she is charming. Look at the two of them. They’re dancing and laughing as if there were tomorrow. Is n’t life beautiful, Terry? You know where that comes from? Isn’t life beautiful? One day you reach a point and then there ain’t no tomorrow. Oh, Terry. So watch, we just have to get this thing over with, then it’s done and we’ll carry on. I’ve thought of a way to do it. Yes, come with me. Remember when we were little? Bobby North, down the road. Sure, I remember. He was a bad rat. Yes. Yes. And Bobby and I made a gun once. He showed me. What? Made one? Yes. Made one for you out of wood. Sure. And with a small piece of metal. It was single-shot. Have you ever heard of a Sipgun? But was it reliable? A thing like that is really old and you can’t identify it. Sure, because when you’re done, you take the wood it’s mostly made of and burn it, and then you take the metal parts and dispose of the various guns. Yes, but only one shot. Terry, right? You have to build two of them, one for each of us. Because if anything goes wrong, we need a spare. Sure. And somehow I think I can get my hands on two bullets. I don’t think I need to ask any more questions. Two loaded guns. We can take care of this thing cleanly and quickly. What do these gentlemen have so much to talk about? Were you planning a monkey day? Yes, I want to dance. It’s our song. Yes, onto the dance floor. Who was the little guy you were talking to? What? Tim? He’s a writer. He just sold one of his screenplays to a Hollywood studio. He couldn’t stop staring at you. Is that so bad? Uh, I’m sure his wife isn’t too keen on it, but that wasn’t his wife, that was his girlfriend. Are you mad at me? That’s exactly what’s going on in his head. Ian, I don’t have the same effect on everyone as I do on you. If that were the case, my career would have taken off a long time ago. Oh, Angela, you’re always on the go. Oh, Ian, don’t be mad at me. I was so looking forward to going to bed with you later. Sorry to bother you, but Even’s standing over there. I love him. I’ll give anything for an autograph, but I don’t want to be intrusive or anything. You know what I mean? We did a TV movie together. I’ll introduce you if you like. No, really? Sure. Oh, great. So, imagine, yeah, I’m sitting there with aces high and then he bets high. Sure. And she saw a little twitch in his cheek. I’ll bring in 30,000 pounds and I’ll win. I’ve played poker most of my life. I’m telling you, it’s a fact. Poker is more about skill than chess. Martin Burns. I’m a friend of John Faer, John, the producer. We were at university together. Back then, I financed my nice lifestyle with poker. You play high stakes, mister occasionally. I met my ex-wife at a poker game. That was years ago. And when she left me, she said I’d neglected her because I’d rather gamble. That wasn’t true. But her lawyers were strategic. My dad taught me poker. There was a poor man who had a restaurant down on the south coast. He taught me all the tricks of the trade, and I got lucky, too. I could never have afforded my expensive previous lives on his income. Terry Kate, find you. Ian Martin Burns, my brother Ien. We’ve just discovered we’re both poker players. There’s a wonderful party happening in town. I’d love to invite them, but I have to leave this weekend. This weekend? Yes, it seems so. I can only be in London very rarely these days. I thought I’d be here all month, but apparently I’m urgently needed in California. That’s a shame if you’re so keen to be here. Ah, Duty calls. I’ve just got time for dinner with my elderly mother before I fly. She’s 91. At that age, anything can happen very quickly. Yes, a great old woman. I hope I have her genes for life. Good luck at poker. I’m done. You went as white as a ghost. How long did you talk to him? A few minutes. I couldn’t breathe. About? About nothing. Poker. Life. What are the odds of something like that? The last thing we wanted to do was meet him. What are the chances? You’re always saying how unpredictable life is. How long will it take you to finish the weapons? Can’t do this. Here. Terry, you’ve been drinking. You lose your confidence when you drink. Listen. I ca n’t keep begging you to do this with me. He’s leaving the country in two days. Are you in or not? I never said I wasn’t. Sure. Well, pull yourself together. I had such a great time. Angela is really nice, isn’t she? She’s not a snobby at all. She said she’d go shopping with me sometime. I love the way she dresses. I thought I couldn’t afford it, but she says I can. And what do you think? Nothing. Who was that you were talking to at the bar? Was that Mr. Burns? How do you know Mr. Burns? I was introduced to him. He’s cute. Isn’t he? Doesn’t he know your Uncle Howard? Have you talked to him about it? Did you tell him that Howard is our uncle? Yeah, we found out because he’s on the board of one of Howard’s foundations, or something like that, he said. By the way, he was looking for you just before we left. Why did you have to talk to him about something like that, Kate? What are you getting so worked up about? We only talked for two minutes, if that. However, I got the impression that he wasn’t that keen on your uncle. Yes, he does sound pretty nasty. I could be wrong. Did he accuse Howard of nasty things? Yes, that’s the impression I got. He was also quite surprised that you were his nephews. Oh God, Kate, my head is going to explode. You’ve had too much to drink. Take a pill. I need my codeine. No, Terry, not when you’ve been drinking. Oh, crap. Where did I put it? It’s in the kitchen cupboard. What’s it doing in the cupboard? I put it in a certain place for a reason. Leave it in the medicine cabinet. Okay, don’t put everything somewhere else, please. God, you just pull it back and let go. Right. All right. There’s an apartment on the ground floor. It faces the front. If we go in there, we can surprise him when he comes home. Yes. Good, I’ve got something in the garage, we’ll get in there with that. This is the best option, Terry, tonight is fine. Yeah, and you can do it too? I can’t stand the waiting anymore. Yes, you’re right. So, he’s always out. So we just have to get it in there and then we’ll wait for him and do it when he gets back from dinner. Hopefully I’ll have the nerve when the time comes. Don’t let me down, Terry. So, it’s quite simple. I’ll shoot him at our place and then you shoot him in the head again, just to be on the safe side. Or you shoot him and I’ll finish you off. Ah. We should have taken a taxi. Ian, you had to give us his name, address, and everything. No, no, no. We need a car standing by. It has to be standing by in case anything goes wrong. What could go wrong? What are you saying? I’m not saying anything will go wrong, but in case it does, we need a car. Can’t take a taxi in case something goes wrong. Here he comes, you see? Okay, so let’s go. Take it easy. We have to be careful not to be seen from outside. Yeah, right. And don’t wear anything. What do we do now? Yeah, we’ll just wait. Do you want a drink too? No. Put that away, Terry. What’s that? Let it ring. Don’t answer. Hello, this is Martin Burns. Please leave a message after the whistle. Hello, honey. Oh, this is Mom. Sorry you’re not here, but I don’t have to answer this until tomorrow. Postpone seven. I’m very happy to see you. So see you then. What are you thinking? What if there is a God? Um, what if all those nights we were awake, you know, in the dark, cursing the fate of every human soul. What if we were too angry? No, no, don’t deviate from what you know in your heart to be true just because we have a difficult task ahead of us. But we’re crossing the line. There’s no going back from this. I’m telling you, I’ve told you before. I don’t want to go back, brother. I don’t want to go back and neither do you. We have to think about the future. A day 11. That’s not so good either. And remember, we wait until he ‘s inside. He closes the door. We let him come into the apartment. Sure. And then we’re there, surprise him, and just do it. All right. All right. We’ll just do it. Okay, so here we go. You do too, right? No, I don’t mean that. No, the meat was good though. Almost too much to do. Yes. Oh man, is that a garden? Do you like it? It’s amazing. It’s beautiful. You’re doing it here. God, Terry, we have to get rid of her too. But not me. Then I’m not going along. What are we going to do then? I’ve screwed up. The woman is out of the question for me. All right, all right, you’re right. But what are we going to do? Oh God, I can’t kill her just because she’s here. You’re all right, I see it the same way. Oh Terry, we’re screwed. San Francisco, LA, is anyone flying with you? No, I’m going alone. Do you need a companion? Are you up for a trip? Yes. And how? Do you have everything you needed to get here? Yes, sleep over at your place tonight, then all I need is fresh clothes and my laptop. Good, I’m ready then. Well then we’ll have to do it tomorrow night at his mother’s. I’ll find out where she lives. I wanted to do it, you. You saw me, but then the woman came in. I would have done it. You saw me. I was ready. I said I wanted the money from the safe for myself. I can’t believe you thought I was going to steal it. It was just a loan, and Dad, there’s a nice fat bonus in here for you. Don’t tell me you can’t use it. Where did you get so much money, kid? You know I’m involved in business ventures. What kind of business ventures? I told you, the hotels. But didn’t you say your hotel projects had been delayed? But this is an advance. Now just take it. Where did it come from? Now just pocket it. Soon this place will be running smoothly again, and you won’t be so dependent on me anymore. Where are you going? I won’t work here forever. And who’s running this place? Oh, Dad, stop it. Now, you know I’m really on your side. I mean, I’ve stuck it out here all these years, even though it’s not for me, out of loyalty to you, and I know a few business plans didn’t quite work out in the past, but this time is different, Dad. This time is different and I’m just crazy about this woman. It’s funny how life takes on a life of its own. No, you’re right. Nobody wants to be selfish, but everyone is. No, not you. Yes, I was. And that was because I was probably scared. You’re a good boy. I always thought you had something. You and your brother are both good boys. It’s always been very important to me that I loved you, and of course Terry, absolutely equally. But you did, you absolutely did. You, you don’t have to worry about anything. Everything will be fine. Everything will be fine. I promise you. All right. I thought I was pregnant. It was a false alarm. Pregnant? Yes, I was late. I never am. But you’re not. That’s a good thing. Why? I think it’s great. We’ve talked about it often, you know? Yes, someday. We’ll manage. And your uncle helped you out. You said that he might even help you get a loan for the idea. with the sports shop helps. I think you’d definitely be a good father. And just think, if we had boys, you could teach him football and all that. Aren’t you hungry? Not really, honey. It’s fine, but is your favorite food? Yeah, sure. Can I have a whiskey, please? Whiskey. Yeah, I don’t know if I have any left. It’s in my cupboard. You’re late. Yeah, sorry. Oh shit, you’ve been drinking. I’m in a good mood. I say I’m in a good mood and now stop this. Sure. Let’s do it, bro, before I change my mind. Do you have the guns here? Here they are and the bullets. All right. All right. Don’t load up now. Are you too drunk to handle this? I said I’m fine. Sure, let’s go now. So, we’ll go up to him when he’s alone. You shoot him and I ‘ll give him a second one, just to be safe. I know what to do. Ian, sure, you do n’t have to order me around. Can you handle it in your condition? Think about yourself. Okay, I’ll take care of him. Let’s go. Do you have the address? Of course I do, so we’ll get this over with. Don’t worry about the restaurant. I can help you if you need me. I dreamed about the boys last night. Again, when they were little. There he is. Let’s go. Wait, don’t you want him to visit his mother one last time ? What? You’re making me sick. Have him visit the old woman. You’re really drunk. Is there any shame in showing up drunk on a job like this? We probably just missed our last chance. We’ll wipe him out when he gets out. God, you don’t care about anyone in the world but yourself. You’re not that big of a deal. Playing small games. I don’t care how many hotels you end up managing or how hot that woman is. Why don’t you shut up? I bet you also swallowed a huge handful of pills that guy was using. I’m fine. We’ll kill him when he gets out. Mr. B. Yeah. Oh , it’s them. I remember. We knew each other from that party. Yeah, we thought that and I heard they’re nice. What are you doing here? Do you live here? No. Your go away now. Right now. What’s up? What are you thinking about? Before is in the past and now is now. We did it and it’s over. And now it’s all about now. It went smoother than I thought. And there was nobody around. How lucky he was to go that way. Yeah, nobody saw us. We behaved right. We didn’t run to the car. We just strolled there calmly. Yes, that takes a huge weight off my shoulders. You’re right. Now’s what counts. It’s always about now. You’d better burn his wallet. Excuse me. Is everything okay? Yes, go back to sleep. What do you think of them? Yes, very good. That’s what I thought. And is there any news on California? Yes, we can probably leave in four to six weeks. We signed everything today. Very good. Did you read in the paper that the guy you talked to at the film party was murdered? Who? Martin. Martin Burns, that was his name. Oh, honestly? How strange. Yes. And no one saw or heard anything. Didn’t he work with your uncle? Yes, I think so. Yes. How do you feel about this? You have to ask then. You know, I’ll never forget what you guys did for me. I owe you my life, and repaying you gives me great satisfaction. So Terry, you once talked about the idea of opening a sports shop if you had the means. No, it’s okay. Listen. Hey, cheer up. The worst is behind you. I’m here to tell you that the future is bright. Terry, Uncle Howard is right. Now don’t walk around with that sad face. This is your chance to finally get away from that cheap idiot in the garage and live your own life. Where are You? Is that you? Yes. Yes. Angela, I’m so nervous. That’s a… No, that’s me. Hello. Hello. Hi. Is it nice to meet you? I’m very pleased. I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m a lovely boy. And how’s your show doing? Good. It’s still sold out on weekends. Well, everyone wants to see you get naked. M. And what do you do for a living? Uh, hotels. Hotels. Which ones? Yes, I have two in California. Yes, Angela says you’re planning an extended stay. Yes, really extended, I hope. California. I’m starving. Where are we going to eat? I’m taking you all to the Clarity. Oh, that’s very nice. No, that’s on us. No, no, no. The pleasure is mine alone. Yes, thank you very much. Very kind of you. Your parents are really very nice. Very nice. Oh, I can’t get California out of my head. I know I had a talk with Uncle Howard and everything’s going according to plan. Thank you. She’s beautiful, isn’t she? Yes, very, very. A bit demanding though. Up to it? I hope so. She really could have had anyone, that little one. I realize I’m very lucky. I see it quite clearly. I always feared that she might end up with some starving, silly theater kid. Not that I noticed anything against the theater, but a man making his way in the business world. Well, it gave me time. I could have invested in some projects, but I didn’t have the guts to take the risk. So I spent the rest of my life behind the wheel of a car, chauffeuring other men. She said they had a future. Oh God, what’s wrong with you? I can’t stand it. Calm down, it’s okay. I’ll take another pill. No, Terry, you can’t take so many. Not with all that alcohol. I’ll leave you alone, man. I need to get rid of this feeling of panic. Why do you feel so panicked? I don’t know. I just need a pill. Oh God, I can’t sleep for one night straight. Why? My car didn’t have that dent. It must have been there. None of us did. No, they put the dent in there. How could I have dented it? I don’t know. Did someone drive it? What’s going on? There’s a dent here. Look at my car. Someone drove it. Shut up. Are you accusing me? Someone drove it around. Not with your finger on a sporting good. I can break it for you now. Calm down. I’m sorry, Mr. Finn. We need a minute. I’ll sort out the body work. Look, I need to talk to you. What the hell is wrong with you? Listen, Terry. I’m telling you, I’m not pleased with how things have been going around here lately. Is that clear? Hey, there’s another one here. Oh shit. Yes, I miss you at Nobu too. Yes, I reserved a table after the show. Who’s that? So, see you later. Okay, see you then. Hey, are you okay? I need to talk to you. You should call ahead. I’m expecting a few people on a conference call. Bad things are coming back to me. What? Such awful things. We did something terrible. Oh God, can’t you just get over it? I’m trying, but I should never have let you persuade me. I didn’t. Carry, you needed help. Kreditier wanted to break your bones and probably Kate’s too. But Martin Burns, we stepped on him like an insect. Look, Terry, I can’t discuss this now. I’m expecting two people and a transatlantic conference call with America. I’m completely wasted. Let’s talk about it later. Why aren’t you in the garage? I should be there. What do you mean? My boss told me to take a few days off. He says I’ve been really stressed lately and thanks for the cops at the Jaguar. Ah, sorry. I forgot to tell you. Terry, you need to rest and finally ditch the booze and pills. No wonder you ‘re in trouble. I can’t get through the day without drinking. So, you need to go home now. go. All right. Relax. I’ll call you later. We’ll sit down together. Yeah, you need to calm down. You’re going to give us a fucking heart attack. Then I’ll die. Fine, then I’ll die. Don’t talk like that. What’s wrong with you, Terry? Guys, come in, please. Yes, thank you. So, I’ll call you later. I’ll help you get through this. Okay. Yes, thank you. Yes, you’re feeling better now. Just get out of the house. You can’t rock out there so much, then you’ll think too much. Kate said you don’t even talk about poker anymore. Where’s the old Terry? I mean, you’re a player. This is you. I don’t want to say you’re going crazy or anything, but I’m not the same person. Terry, I can’t be that anymore . No, you just need to think straight. So, I’ve been thinking that maybe quitting is the best thing that ever happened to you. What? Yes, now is the perfect time to think about opening a sports shop. You know, Uncle Howard said it will help you financially to get started. You’d be your own boss, no more kowtowing to the boss, and you love sports. Yes, maybe you’re right here. Maybe I just need a complete change. Yes, you need to focus on something tangible. You can’t just do nothing. I think I’ll do this. Yes, this is exactly what you need. Terry, stop with the booze and the pills and build your own business. Yes, and not just sports equipment, exercise equipment. That’s where the money is these days. Yes. Yes. Helping people set up their own private studios. It’s great how you’re thinking now, Terry, because you’re thinking ahead and looking ahead. Yes, of course. You’ve got a really good future ahead of you. Yes. Yes, of course. I don’t want to say that I haven’t had moments when I’ve thought about what we did. And I almost freaked out. Just run. We’re brought up that way. There’s a difference between right and wrong. You have the law. Look at this. I have the winner. This is the start of a new lucky streak. I can feel it. Maybe you could deliver this model with this interior and left-hand drive, say to California. To California. Yes, I’d love to. And is there a long waiting list or about three or four months I’d say. May I? Please get in. That was just wonderful. Oh yes, you were very good too. Angela was great tonight. Take care. Thank you. You were so great. You were magnificent. Are you m And the bedroom scenes were as sexy as ever. Well, I played them with him, but I thought of you for motivation. Don’t forget, tomorrow is Lord Eisley’s party. He’s inviting the whole cast. Yes, I’ll be watching you like a hawk. You know, his son is a notorious playboy and I think he just invited everyone to get you there. What is it? Nothing. Show me. I got them for you. You liked them so much in the shop. Oh my God, they must have cost you a fortune. Hello, I need to speak to you. Ian, Kate, Kate, Kate, take it easy. What is it? It ‘s about Terry. I need to speak to you urgently. What now? Yes, it’s possible now. Well, I’ll see what I can do. I’ll call you in a minute. Are you all right, Angela, I have to go and see my brother. A small family problem. Nothing serious, I hope. No, no, that was Kate. You met her, didn’t you? Something came up. I’ll see you at your place very soon. Yes, really quickly. I really want to thank you for the earrings. Okay, see you in a minute. Yes, I’m worried about Terry. Ian, what’s going on? It’s about his mental state. Well, I know he was worried about losing his job, but we were at the dog racing the other day, and he was talking about opening the sporting goods store. No, he’s not interested in that, and now he’s constantly angry. He’s talking to himself, you know? No, we decided he’ll talk to Uncle Howard about financing it. He was very agitated. His mind isn’t working right. What he says one moment means nothing the next. Oh, I see, I’m speechless. Yes, It’s because of the pills he takes and the drinking. He thinks he’s killed someone. What? Yes, you know, I knew a woman once who had mental problems too. She was convinced she’d run someone over. She didn’t, you understand? But she was obsessed with it for the rest of her life. He walks around and talks and talks about this murder. It’s gotten worse and worse. He has horrible nightmares. He hardly talks anymore. He’s always on this sad face and he’s constantly crying. When we were at the dog racing he seemed to have come over it, but when he came home it started straight back up again. It’s such an obsession. He thinks he’s done something horrible and he doesn’t want me to get a doctor, you know? Oh, no, no, don’t do that. Don’t get a doctor. If you get a doctor into the house, I can look after him. And how? Well, it’s obviously more serious than I thought, but if you get a doctor, he could go completely berserk. I really think he should see a doctor. No doctor, Kate, don’t do that. I know Terry. That would only make things worse, you understand. So, I’ll be in the country tomorrow. All right. And when I get back, I’ll spend some time with Terry and you’ll see, everything will be fine. But how can I reach you in an emergency? I’ll tell you where we are and you can call me anytime. I’ll be there and come straight back. So you’re a fan of Greek tragedies too. I love them. I’m crazy about them. Unfortunately, I rarely get the chance to act in one. Yes, I know, it’s difficult. Which one do you like best? Well, I don’t really know much about it. Oh, mine was always Midea Oriedes. Yes. Yes, I agree. And I think Klöt Lestra is probably the best role in all the Greek classics. Yes, I must say, the best production of Greek myths I’ve seen here, better than anything in the theater, was danced by Martha Graham’s troupe. You know them? Really? Yes. Yes. All the terror was there. All the Aristotelian compassion and fear, it’s much more haunting when danced. Not sure. Mr. Bane. Yes. Your brother’s here. What? He’d like to see you. Oh, excuse me a moment. Yes, please. Get him in. No, it must be pretty serious for him to drive all the way out here. No, it’s just a small family problem. It won’t take long. I’m sure it’s nothing. Yes, probably. Your brother’s there, Mr. Blade. Thank you. Terry, what are you doing here? How did you know where I was? Kate had the address. I need to tell you something. Keep your voice down. I don’t want anyone to hear this. Why didn’t you just call me? I want to turn myself in, what? We broke God’s birth. God, Terry, what God? What God, you idiot. What God? I shouldn’t have let you talk me into this. I didn’t talk you into this. Terry, stop kidding yourself. I can’t take this anymore. Listen. You can’t do this, Terry. Is that clear? You can’t do this. You’re throwing away your whole life and mine and Uncle Howard’s. I’m not going to drag you and Howard into this. You will, that’s my personal decision. You won’t be able to keep us out of this at all. Yes, I will. No, you’re upset. You’re totally unstable. Your lies will be exposed. I considered suicide, Honor. And how? Why? Stop asking the same questions over and over. Then commit suicide and keep Howard and me out of this. I just want to come clean. Terry, you’re depressed. You’re just suffering from a little depression. That’s all. Kate wants me to see a doctor. No, no, no. I can help you if you’ll just let me. I just want to tell someone, you know? Make my punishment worse and let you get rid of it. Okay. Just give me a minute. Give me a minute to sort out my thoughts, Terry. Yes, it would be nice if you came with me, but if you don’t want to, I understand. Give me a minute. I already feel much better. since I made the decision. Hi, is everything okay? Yes, I am. Are you coming back to us? Terry and I are just discussing a small problem. How is everything not as bad as it seems? I just need to talk something through with you. Honestly? Yes. Yes, go ahead. I’ll just need a moment. All right. She’s beautiful. She’ll make a great wife. Now listen, Terry. Terry, listen to me . I really want to help you, but this isn’t the right time yet. Sorry to come in like this. No, no, it’s okay. It’s okay. I’m interested in what you have to say. We’re family. You’re my brother. Well, we can talk, but I’m not changing my mind. Maybe, maybe, but maybe you could reconsider. But you have to promise me one thing. Yes, we have to talk about it before you do anything about old things. All right, I promise. I promise. Terry, can I come in on the glass? No, that’s not a good idea. You, you should go. I’ll call you tonight. Okay. Call me tonight. I just don’t see any other option. But what does that mean for us? Well, I don’t know what that could mean for us, but it certainly means that we want to survive. But he’s family. Terry is my brother. Yes, I know, but he has to be stopped before he exposes the whole thing. Yes, that can’t happen. No, no, I’ll murder him again . How am I supposed to do that? It’s a Djurv, only a thousand times more terrible. Time is running out. Terry could do something terrible while we sit here cursing our fate . He was right about one thing. That was like crossing a line. There’s no going back. It has to look like an accident. Yes. Yes. An accident or a suicide. He’s brooding, you know? He sits there and talks to himself. He imagines that you both have a dark secret, like you hurt someone or something. And he might hurt himself. Let me talk to him alone, Kate. Yes. Terry Terry, I dreamed about Martin Burns. Terry, listen to me. I dreamed about Martin Burns again. You need to get away from all this for a few days. Get some fresh air, some sea air. Just the two of us . We’ll go out on the boat tomorrow. We’re not going sailing here anymore. Yes, that’s what I’m saying. We’ll take some sandwiches and a couple of beers and then we’ll talk, brother to brother. Yes, very good. Yes, you see where I’m coming from. It’ll be great, just the two of us. I think Angela said she’s going shopping with Kate tomorrow. She said she wants to do a bit of styling. And then we’ll relax and soak up some sun. Maybe we’ll go swimming. You’ll feel much better with the sea in the L. Yes, but we’ll never be the same again. Sure, I mean, there’s no going back. Go and tell Kate we’re going out on the boat tomorrow. Okay. Yes, okay. Come on now. Kate, I have to tell you something. We’re going sailing tomorrow. Just the two of us going out on the boat with me. Yes. M. And did Terry tell you the good news? Yes, that’s a wonderful idea. You two never really had the chance to be on your boat more often, did you? And you were so happy when you bought it. I also told them Angela is going shopping with you tomorrow. Oh yes, she’s so nice. Mike Eisley from the garden party asked if we were serious and then he invited me to Morocco for the weekend. And what did you say? Well, I, I told him I loved you. For the first time in my life, the words actually meant something. I love you. Are you okay? Yes. Yes. You seem so distracted? No, I’m just thinking about what you said, and I’m tired, you know. Well, you’ve really been busy lately. I think going out on the boat with your brother would do you as much good as him. Is he okay? He’s depressed. He drinks too much and he’s really slumped, and Kate’s worried he might hurt himself. Well then. then maybe he should see a doctor. No, he’s refusing. He’s refusing. Kate, I didn’t tell him, but he talked about suicide. Oh my God, I’m so sorry. That’s awful. Left. เ อ Our best decision was getting the boat, not Terry. H Kate’s right. We don’t go out as often as we should have anymore. It’s sad how everything turned out. Don’t start with that. No, I’m serious, that was the wrong decision on our part. The way I see it, we had no choice at all. You always have a choice. Now I know. I mean, at first I didn’t know. I thought like you did, that we had no choice. But let’s assume you’re right, which I don’t mean, but let’s just assume theoretically that we really did make the wrong decision. What, just theoretically? You’re kidding yourself, aren’t you? His statement would have landed Uncle Howard in jail for the rest of his life. Maybe Uncle Howard deserved to end up there. How can you say that? Well, forget it. Oh God, you think we committed some kind of unnatural act, but we didn’t. All of human life revolves around violence. It ‘s a cruel world, Terry. You’re just completely devastated because you’re now confronted with your own human nature. I mean, I didn’t have to do it. So why did you do it? I just carried on. Like I’m playing for high stakes, you know? I just made the bet, like I was in a dream. You weren’t dreaming when you shot him. All right. Yes, listen. We made a mistake. Fine, but it’s over. Okay, we made the wrong decision. I agree with you. But being punished doesn’t make it undone. Martin Burns is dead. He’s dead. I called the police yesterday. You what? I called them and told them I knew something about Morten Burns. He said, “Who is it?” I wanted to say who I was, but I didn’t. I hung up. I’ll call as soon as I get back. Why do you want to do this? What’s wrong with you? It’s selfish Terry. Do you not care at all that you’re handing Uncle Howard and me over too? It’s all a mess. A huge mess. Can’t you see that? I have to sort it out. Well, I don’t want to talk about it anymore. We’re out here to relax, just to sail and unwind. Yes, I’m going to get a couple of beers now. Yes, it’s fine. เฮ เฮ Why couldn’t you leave it alone? Why couldn’t you leave it alone? You messed everything up. Harry, you messed up. You messed everything up. Everything, everything. We keep everything up with him. We think that’s how it went down, but we don’t know for sure. One of them killed the other, either intentionally or accidentally. Then he committed suicide. Drowned himself. Awful. The boat stinks of booze and pills. I don’t know, every day there’s something new. I think they’re great. What do you say? Yeah, do I look good in them? Yes, we love them. Yes, men love that cut. I was wearing something similar when I first saw myself. เ เฮ เฮ เฮ Yeah.
