Suggestions needed for bed in front of my house


Sadly, this spruce has to go, due to needle cast. There was a second spruce has already been removed. I would like to plant evergreens and possibly some perennials, but I don't want to block the view of the house from the street. The existing bed is about 30 yards long and 10 yards deep, with approximately 2 of those yards are on a steep slope. The existence of needle cast in the soil limits options to plants that are not vulnerable this fungal disease.

    I would just make it even with the surrounding soil and plant grass. It’s so far away from the rest of the house it’s gonna look like some sort of a 4H presentation if you make a bed with plantings.

    I am not sure how much sunlight is exposed due to the tree. You could do shade loving hostas plants. If it does receive sun right now is the perfect time to plant bulbs. Crocs, tulips, alluim, or just a bed of variation of different Iris.

    Hard to recommend plantings without knowing your zone and what kind of light exposure this bed gets (it’s shade in the photo, but is that all day or just certain hours).
