I’ve had this for 3 years, it had well over 200 leaves when I got it and it’s slowly dropped to less than 50. It’s not in direct sunlight but clearly gets lots of light, and I water it about once a week. I’ve tried watering it less, more, adding some houseplant food, adding some compost – it just keeps dropping leaves. I’d have moved it but I don’t have loads of space for a hanging plant. All my other plants around the apartment are doing great. Any ideas?

Mine did this when it was overwatered, it was overwatered once and even when it was watered less it kept dropping its leaves after that initial shock.

I feel you 🥹 I had a monstera do exact the same. Mine went from this gorgeous full plant to basically a sad stick with like 6 leaves. Drive me crazy because everything else was thriving. Turned out mine was completely root bound. After 3 years in the same pot, the roots had nowhere to go. When I finally repotted it (went up just one size), it exploded with new growth within a month. Check the drainage holes, if you see roots poking out, that’s your answer. The other thing that saved mine was humidity. I put it near my other plants (they create a little humid microclimate together) and started misting it occasionally. Monsteras are drama queens about dry air. I moved mine around for months trying to find the “perfect” light, and it hated me for it. Once I left it alone, it finally settled down and stopped the leaf massacre.

Could be time to up-pot. That’s a big plant for such a tiny pot. Check for roots coming out of the weep hole
