hi all! just adopted this jade from a friend, and live in a rowhouse so i’m short on window options (this one is second floor, north facing). i could put it outside but that might be too much direct sun (?). the top leaves look ok and have the red tips, which i’ve been told is good, but i’m worried about the bottom leaves? trying to avoid overwatering though, so sticking to watering once a week or 10 days. any help welcomed!!

when you water it it has to be completely soaked. this guy is thristy as hell
It’s dehydrated, how much water do you give it when you water?
Over watering is not about how much water you give the plant, but how often you water and how long it takes the soil to dry. As long as you have the right soil you can pour a bucket of water in the pot every time you water.
Try this:
Get a pitcher of water and pour a little water on the soil and wait for it to sink in. Then pour a little more, wait for that to sink in. Pour more, wait, pour, wait and do that until you’ve emptied the pitcher. Let the pot drain. It should now be noticably heavier.
If the water sinks very slowly, get a skewer, pierce the soil all the way to the bottom om the pot and wiggle it around to break up the soil
The soil should be dry again all through the pot after about a week. Let it sit dry for a couple of weeks then water again with the pitcher. These should spend more time in dry soil than wet soil
If the soil is very compact and takes a long time to absorb the water you should replace it with grittier soil
When they’re wrinkly and squishy they usually are thirsty. You want the leaves plump and firm! If you’re watering way too much they will go really soggy and rot
Oh my he’s so dehydrated 😭 no direct sunlight it might burn or get stressed from changing conditions, mine are thriving getting bright indirect light from the windowsill, also make sure you water the soil until it’s dripping from the drain holes or let it bottom water by placing it in a bowl of water and letting it soak upwards, but you def need to water it more often 🥲🥲 just allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings
No it needs water Im experimenting with bottom watering
