Phuntsokling Tibetan Community Inaugurates Newly Renovated Crèche Garden of Happiness Blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Odisha: On 3 October 2025, the Phuntsokling Tibetan Community in Odisha joyfully celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated crèche, named Garden of Happiness (བདེ་སྐྱིད་སྐྱེད་ཚལ།) by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This beautiful and vibrant facility stands as a shining testament to the community’s unwavering commitment to nurturing its youngest members in a safe, happy, and inspiring environment.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mo Bumchok, a highly respected 99-year-old resident and one of the oldest members of the community, who had the honour of cutting the ribbon. The event drew enthusiastic participation from community leaders, parents, and well-wishers, all eager to witness this meaningful milestone.
The crèche had faced several administrative challenges in the past. However, to ensure stronger management and continuity, an administrative committee comprising 11 members has now been established. This committee has formulated 14 clear rules and regulations for the crèche, which have been formally approved by the Local Tibetan Assembly. The administration, under the leadership of the Tibetan Settlement Officer, is committed to ensuring the crèche’s smooth operation and sustainability for many years to come.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the generous funding from TAWS, channelled through the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). It also highlights the steadfast unity and collaborative effort of the Tibetan residents of Phuntsokling, whose dedication transformed the crèche into a lively and caring space for the entire community.
