MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Families gathered at the West Virginia Botanical Garden Sunday for the annual Fall Children’s Festival, an event celebrating the season with hands-on activities and outdoor fun.

The festival featured a variety of family-friendly attractions, including fairy house building, pumpkin painting, and seasonal crafts. Children explored the gardens while learning about nature through creative play and interactive stations set up throughout the grounds.

“The West Virginia Botanical Garden has grown tremendously over the last three, four, five years, we’ve added our visitors center which is great, we have a cafe and a gift shop, and a place where people can ask questions,” Executive Director of the WV Botanical Garden Philip Smith said.

This year’s festival was made possible through support from the Kiwanis Foundation of Morgantown, Cheat Lake Animal Hospital and Feline Veterinary Care of Morgantown, and the WVU School of Dentistry.

“Certainty here at the garden, people come out to see our colors, and that process your learning what trees do, how the seasons change,” Education Director at the West Virginia Botanical Garden Abigail Waugh said.

Organizers said the event continues to be one of the garden’s most anticipated traditions, offering a way for families to enjoy the outdoors while welcoming the fall season together.
