my front yard is a square of dirt.

I have a tiny tiny bit of grass growing, that I’ve watered nearly every day all summer in hopes of it spreading, but that hasn’t helped.

The tree is nice for shade, though it could use a trimming to cut out a lot of the dead branches that could help provide some more sun to the yard. I don’t have a pole saw and unsure how much a tree trimming service would cost.

Will winter rye grow here you think? Just trying to come up with any ideas aside from laying down 1000 sq ft of sod.

I don’t nessisarily care for a super green lush grass, just anything is better than the square of dirt i have.

Look into natives for dry shade! Turks cap is my favorite, but you could mix in some agarita or twist leaf yucca for evergreens.

Native American seed Co has a seed mix for shade friendly wild flowers here[native American seed Co shade friendly wildflowers ](https://seedsource.com/shade-friendly-wf-mix/). You could put those out once the weather cools off closer to November/December and put a very light sprinkling of mulch on top.
