RICHLAND, Wash. – Beaver Bark Garden Center is celebrating October with its annual “Barktoberfest,” offering the community a unique blend of plants and pumpkins.
For the past six years, Beaver Bark has hosted Barktoberfest, drawing in crowds with festive decorations, music, food trucks and a scavenger hunt. Attendees can enjoy not only the seasonal ambiance but also special deals on various items.
The event features discounts throughout the store, including half off on trees and shrubs, $10 one-gallon perennials and grasses, 20% off in the clothing boutique and 25% off Halloween decor.
Jackie Bobbett, who began working at Beaver Bark at 16, has become an integral part of the family business. Her mother-in-law, Renae Bobbett, started the store in 1994 and now enjoys working alongside Jackie and her daughter Abbey.
“She came with the package when my son fell in love with her. And we put her on the register, and she has literally blossomed. She’s a partner in the business. And one of the reasons that it continues to grow,” said Renae.
Abbey Bobbett shared her excitement about the season, highlighting the creative spirit of Halloween.
“Halloween is just such a fun holiday. Honestly, it really expresses everyone’s creativity. So you get to see all of those fun Halloween costumes. We get to be really involved in our community through that trick or treating and all of the fun activities to be had around this holiday,” Abbey said.
Family is a central theme at Beaver Bark, with three generations of Bobbett women contributing to the business.
“Not only did I grow up running around here with my younger brother and having my mom here, but the employees and the staff here have really become just a second family to me,” Abbey said.
“People come here with their small little kids, I say they were coming here when they were, you know, babies themselves. So, it’s just a community space and a fun spot to hang out with my family,” Jackie added.
Renae emphasized the sense of belonging among the staff.
“We have people that have been here 25, 20 years, and the ones that are here one and two years are coming back next year. So, it’s a wonderful place to work and call home and their work family,” Renae said.
While the food trucks and music are set to leave, the discounts will remain through the week. The Bobbett family also hints at more festivities for upcoming holidays.
