Why are there mushroom p growing out of my monstera?!
Ummmmm I just noticed this. Why are their mushrooms growing out of my monstera?????!?!? I know they look quite funny lmao. I’m assuming I just need to do a good repot for her but help. Why is this happening.
i dont know anything about this fungi species but as a general horticultural perspective, fungi are decomposers (ofcourse meaning they thrive off of consuming dead organic matter) and the presence of the fruiting bodied means the fungi that is present is thriving enough to try and reproduce. given the knowledge that almost every commercial potting soil has dead organic matter such as woodchips, it is not uncommon to see mushrooms growing out of pots.

It might be a sign that your soil is staying wet for a bit too long between waterings. The mushrooms are not bad or harmful for the plants. It just means that you have good dirt, just a little wet.

Cause she wet and healthy- the soil that is. Too wet though is not great for monstera health. Let her dry out. Maybe add some more holes to that pot liner, so that it drains better

I agree with excessive moisture in soil for extended periods of time. I would cut back on watering or repot into chunkier, well-draining substrate. If the mycelium mat gets too dense, it can potentially make the soil around it hydrophobic and keep the roots from taking up enough water for the plant.

It’s either mushrooms or the beginning of aerial roots? Most likely shrooms.

I saw a YouTube video where they said, shrooms growing in plant pots is good sign and nothing to fear, means they are thriving actually.
But, it seems like it might need a new pot anyways, given they grow out at the bottom. Seems like they are blocking the monstera roots from doing so too? When did you last repot?
Otherwise beautiful plant and shrooms you got there 🙂
