Pet Shard Nutty is a reward in Grow a Garden that gives your pets the Nutty mutation.
The Nutty mutation itself is a risk-reward type perk which operates on a chance-based activation, ostensibly nerfing your pet in the event you don’t get lucky.
It can be very effective though, so let’s run through how to get Pet Shard Nutty, and what the Nutty pet mutation does.

How to get Pet Shard Nutty in Grow a Garden
The Pet Shard Nutty gear item is a random chance reward when collecting Acorns spawned by the Chubby Chipmunk pet, meaning there’s the possibility you’ll get one every single time you collect an Acorn.
However, the chance of getting one is very slim – 0.24% to be exact. As such, it’s very unlikely you’ll receive it.

Despite that though, if you continue to engage with the event and allow your Chubby Chipmunk to eat the crops in your garden, Acorns will continuously spawn, giving you the chance of getting this item every single time you collect one.
What the Nutty pet mutation does in Grow a Garden
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a Pet Shard Nutty, you can then apply it to any pet of your choosing to give them the Nutty pet mutation.
As mentioned at the beginning though, this is a risk-reward type mutation that you’ll want to think about before using. This is because, whilst the Nutty mutation does create the chance that the pet’s next ability will activate twice, should it not occur, the pet will instead lose a level.

As such, there are very specific use cases where you’ll want to use this, and you should keep in mind that this may reduce a pet’s level over time if you’re not lucky enough.
Best of luck getting the Pet Shard Nutty.
