This is Cut Off the Spigot where I take a look category by category to find where else to shop beyond Target, Amazon, Walmart, other big corporations and private equity firms. Often I also find bad companies that we should avoid.
Check out my “Where to Shop – Gardening Supplies” video for good places to go.
Not recommended places to shop for gardening supplies:
Home Depot
Lowe’s
Tractor Supply Company

Part two, gardening supplies. This is Cut Off the Spigot, where I take a look category by category to find out where else to shop besides Amazon, Walmart, and Target, and other big corporations and private equity firms that are ruining our democracy in our country. So, check out part one if you would like to find good places to shop for gardening supplies, but this is part two where I’m talking about all the bad guys. So, let’s start with the worst. Home Depot. These guys suck. Home Depot gave $1 million last year to the School Freedom Fund, which is a pack that basically funded primary candidates against Republicans who didn’t want to support Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, his basically like private voucher system for schools that just got passed and is essentially just subsidizing private education for rich families. Home Depot also has their own pack, the Home Depot pack, uh, which spent $2 million in the last election. And Home Depot was also one of the largest corporate donors to election denier candidates in the 2022 uh, season. One of their founders also gave millions to Trump in 2024, and he died last year at 95. Was probably karma for supporting Trump even though he was 95. Overall though, I don’t need my home improvement stores to be getting into politics. This is crazy. So, no thank you. No Home Depot. So, no Home Depot. What about Lowe’s, right? The Liberals Home Depot. While Lowe’s is the lesser of the two evils, they did pull back on DEI last summer before Trump even got elected. And they donate to both Republican and uh Democratic candidates. It’s kind of a 50/50 split, but no DEI, no DRO, no thank you Lowe’s. What about Tractor Supply Company? Similar to Lowe’s, they also ended DEI last summer before Trump got even got elected and pissed off a huge amount of their rural queer fan base where they had part previously participated in pride demonstrations and things like that. So, I’m going to sache away from this one. So, that’s where not to shop. Again, you can check out my part one to find where to shop that are good companies. There’s actually some really good options. And if you found this helpful, follow me. I go category by category to look where else to shop beyond all these big corporations that are ruining our lives. Bye.
