These are the first plants I’ve ever bought online. They’re so pretty. Ngl, I was scared they’d arrive dead 💀
I unfortunately had to quickly and haphazardly plant them in these tiny bowls that I poked drainage holes in because I’m recovering from an elbow injury and I couldn’t quite maneuver myself properly. I also couldn’t lift the bag of the akadama I ordered. The mix is about 60% inorganic (pumice and perlite) to 40% soil with mostly peat moss as I heard they liked acidity. I haven’t watered them as advised in my earlier post.
Will definitely replant these in better pots when I recover.

Right now they’re in the same spot as my other Gymnocalycium where they get bright and consistent but indirect sunlight in accordance to my research. I do have a spare small grow light not in use. D’ya think I should prop it up next to ‘em for a little boost?
Congratulations on your new plants they look amazing! Welcome to the gymnocalycium adventure heh. These plants goes dormant in winter. Any light should do, you dont need expensive grow lights. Now idk where u from but I’m in Europe and they closing in to cold soon. So I take them inside for the winter. These dont grow like Mexican cactus they tolerate more water but keep them dry over winter. The variated part of the should not see any sun only the green side with chlorophyll. Indirect light only.
They will be fine the way u have planted them for now. Very impressive that could even do it with ur indury. I hope you will recover fast.

Added picture with some of mine.
I have one coming as well. I’m just wondering if I should keep them in the same window with my growlights or not. They would be at least 10 inches from the light…or even more. Or should I put them just on a window sill that gets afternoon light?
