I planted garlic today. When planting garlic, you separate the bulbs into individual cloves and plant them.

It’s basically the same as taking the garlic clove you often see when cooking and putting it directly into the soil.

While I was planting, a staff member at the farm kindly gave me some elephant garlic cloves, saying, “If you’d like, you can try these too.”

They were so huge compared to regular garlic cloves—I couldn’t believe how big they were! (lol)

Although it’s called “elephant garlic,” I learned that it’s actually classified as a type of leek, not the same species as regular garlic.

Since both regular garlic and elephant garlic are related to leeks, I guess they’re sort of like distant relatives.

By the way, elephant garlic is said to have a milder smell than regular garlic.

The staff gave me two cloves of elephant garlic, so I secretly mixed them in with my garlic planting area.

Apparently, the shoots will start to sprout in about a month. I’m really looking forward to seeing them germinate and grow.
