not the best idea no good temp control some may live but if not controlled then it “may” be a waste of money

If it has drainage holes and isn’t in the sun, should be okay. I think heat is the real concern, and then freezing depending upon where you’re located.

r/vermiculture can tell you how to either augment this or set up a worm bin.

The worms will just come in by themselves as long as it has an open bottom/drain holes. My bins are full of them.

As long as the worms can go down into the earth below then they will be able to regulate their own temperature and comfort levels

You can, they might leave or they might stay… its hard to say.

If your compost heats up, theres a good chance they’ll leave. However, if conditions just right not only will they stay, but worms from the surrounding area will make their way into the bin too. Even if you dont add any, the worms in the area will migrate to the bin naturally.

I just spoke to someone about this type of composter. Make sure you put it in the shaed. Don’t overfill it or it gets too hot. Remove juices regularly as you water it to keep the contents moist and cool. And you may need to turn it it it gets too hot.

It will probably be too hot for them. Maybe of you keep it in the shadow? Also don’t keep it too wet and maybe add some materials like cardboard or straw to fluff it up.
