Fenwick Island’s Barefoot Gardeners garden club is planning a vibrant celebration and presentation of “Seaside Treasures” at their Small Standard Flower Show, featuring native plants, seasonal flowers and creative table setting designs.

The event will include club members’ submissions in three divisions: Horticultural (i.e., samplings of perennials, cut branches and container plants), Design (i.e., coastal-themed table place settings) and Educational Exhibits focusing on protecting Delaware’s shoreline. As a Delaware Federation Garden Club- (DFGC-) accredited event, judges have been secured from the DFGC to present awards in each division.

Flower Show co-chairs Debbie Micsky and Candie Young said, “We are so delighted to be bringing this wonderful event to the community! The club members are excited to share their designs, while also providing an informative event to gardeners and spectators alike!”

The flower show is set for Monday, Oct. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 9901 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md. Admission is free to the public. Refreshments and raffle prize drawings will be offered, along with the chance for attendees to immerse themselves “in the floral wonders of the season.”

Proceeds from the Flower Show will benefit the garden club’s College Scholarship Fund and the Town of Fenwick Island’s Pollinator Garden on Bunting Avenue.
