My rubber tree was getting unruly so I went after it with some pruners and cut it way back.
Pic 1 – June 27, branches supported with fishing line and command hooks.
Pic 2 – June 27, supports removed
Pic 3 – June 27, post chop
Pic 4 – July 8, moved it outside in the shade, signs of new growth
Pic 5 – July 17, lots more new growth!
Pic 6 – October 2, strong foliage with lots of branching. A little disappointed it didn’t grow a little taller, but it should get decent sun indoors over the winter.

I’ll be prepared to hack it back again to create even stronger branches next year if necessary.

My roommates rubber tree went through some hard times. Its bouncing back but it is super lanky with the leaves clustered on the very end. you can legit prune the leaves off?

This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I was just staring at my long and leaning rubber and tree and trying to decide what to do. I’m going to give it a chop. Can I cut the top off and stick it in the pot?
