Police said that 80 flowers were stolen from a property on Hartington Place in Eastbourne.

They said the flowers were hydrangea.

Eastbourne Police said: “The Eastbourne neighbourhood policing team are appealing for information or assistance with identifying those involved, following reports of a theft from a property along Hartington Place in Eastbourne.

“The theft occurred on Saturday, September 27, around 1.15am, where a large number of hydrangea flowers where stolen.

“It is believed around 80 flowers were stolen.

“Information that may assist officers can be reported online, in person or by calling 101 and providing reference number 47250191730.”

According to the Royal Horticultural Society: “Shrubby hydrangeas brighten borders in mid to late summer with their showy, but delicate, long-lasting flowers in shades of pink, white or blue.

“Many have attractive autumn colour and leaf shape.

“Climbing hydrangeas flower in summer and are well suited for covering north and east-facing walls.”
