Hi all,

I moved into a new house recently (Southern Ontario) that has this Crimson King planted in our front yard. It appears to have been planted too deep and does not look healthy at all.

I've removed a large chunk of the grass around it to expose the root flare, but it might not be enough. The top of the tree has also been topped.

My question is: should I try to save this tree? I've read that they are underisable and invasive where I live. What else could I do to help this tree recovery?

Thanks!

No. It’s invasive and they don’t compartmentalize wounds well. Remove and replace with a native like sugar or red maple
