I love Hadong sign

As October brings crisp skies and golden sunlight, Bukcheon-myeon in Hadong-gun transforms into a vibrant sea of flowers.

The 19th Bukcheon Cosmos and Buckwheat Flower Festival will be held from October 2 to 19 under the theme “Hadong, a paradise of stars – Bukcheon, a paradise of flowers.”

Across 36 hectares of cosmos fields and 6 hectares of buckwheat blossoms, visitors will be immersed in sweeping views of pink, white, and purple blooms. Alongside cosmos and buckwheat, pink muhly grasses, a rare gourd tunnel, and winding flower paths create the impression of walking through a starlit garden.

The festival offers an array of performances and competitions. Highlights include the Myunmin Singing Contest, the Jeong Du-su Song Festival, and a youth dance competition, alongside special appearances by singer Hwang In-a and guest singer Wax. The Hadong County Arts Troupe will also perform during the opening ceremony.

Children and families can join hands-on programs such as flower-water handkerchief making, pressed flower crafts, and traditional Korean games. Other lively events include an arm wrestling championship, screaming contest, shoe-kicking challenge, lucky gourd popping contest, and bingo raffles.

Festivalgoers can also enjoy a farmers’ market showcasing Hadong’s seasonal produce—freshly dug sweet potatoes, Seomjin River rice, buckwheat noodles, and steaming bowls of muksabal. Sharing tea and conversation with locals adds to the festival’s welcoming atmosphere.
