MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center (KCCC) experienced vandalism in the Children’s Garden over the past two summers.

These acts of vandalism prompted KCCC to pursue more extensive security measures to keep the Children’s Garden open.

The school applied for grants to fund the security measures. It received $7,000 from the Knox County Foundation and $2,500 from the Knox County Safety Council. KCCC contributed the remaining $2,700.

“We are so grateful for the Knox County Foundation and the Knox County Safety Council for providing funds to enhance security measures in the Children’s Garden,” Superintendent Kathy Greenich said. “These measures will assist us in keeping the garden open to the community.”
