Found this guy on sale in a pot that was too small for him. I took him out to repot and noticed all this yellow and mold? where he was squished up against the pot. It does look like he sent out a little baby. Can I save them?

The yellow is corking, that’s normal. The bottom basically turns into wood over time. Look up pictures of a giant, old cactus and you’ll see that the bottom can eventually turn into a tree, essentially.

I don’t see the mold you’re talking about though. Are you talking about the white spots in the soil? That’s probably perlite, which is just a weird rock that can be turned into like a styrofoam texture that makes it good for gardening since it drains so well.

When you repot do a soil that’s 50% cactus soil and 50% perlite. I think the mould you’re seeing in the soil is perlite, which is an inorganic material important for cacti!

  3. It’s not pup it’s other cacti from seed. Actually, he it’s to young for moving out
