TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Tucson Botanical Gardens is set to unveil its latest exhibit, Frida’s Garden, capturing the essence of Frida Kahlo’s iconic garden at La Casa Azul.

“Frida’s Garden is true to Frida’s fearless aesthetic and color plays a central role here,” Michelle Conklin said, president and CEO of Tucson Botanical Gardens. “It’s also a deeply personal space inspired by the artist’s love of nature.”

The exhibit will be open to the public starting Oct. 11.

The garden features a vibrant triangular layout with winding paths, planting beds, resting spots, and a scaled-down Aztec-inspired pyramid. It merges lush greenery with desert-friendly plants, offering a unique Southwestern twist. The garden is enclosed by “Frida-Blue” walls accented in red and yellow, echoing the vibrant colors Kahlo loved.

Lush greenery and climbing vines provide a tropical feel, while thoughtful resting spots allow visitors to pause and reflect on the cultural and artistic inspiration behind the garden.

The exhibit was made possible with support from Museo Frida Kahlo.
