The Country Women’s Association of Victoria Inc. (CWA) will soon hold its second Festival of Gardens.

Two years ago, CWA Orbost showcased three superb, local gardens: a vibrant farm garden filled with flowers, vegetables and more; a beautiful, sprawling garden with many differing aspects to explore; and a delightful “fantasy” garden full of repurposed treasures.

On Saturday, October 11 CWA Orbost have five small jewels for visitors to check out: starting with a modern sculptured beauty, just two years old, showing mostly Australian natives; a rose garden owned by an exceptional woman who has propagated over 20,000 roses during an amazing career; a garden with

almost every inch of space used for edible plants, a delightful native garden designed to show colour through every season of the year; and lastly, a quirky cottage garden that perfectly suits the cottage it surrounds and its streetscape.

Finally, the Sensory Garden is always open for everyone to enjoy. For the festival Orbost Garden Club volunteers will be on hand to explain the history and plantings.

All members of the public are invited. Tickets are only available at St James Church Hall, Browning Street, Orbost.

Please note the event is cash only.

Visitors will receive their map to the gardens at the hall.

Devonshire Teas, baked goods, preserves, crafts, CWA cook books and plants will be on sale at the hall.

All funds raised support CWA Victoria’s projects for women, children and families in need. There will be five gardens for visitors to check out, featuring Australian natives, a rose garden and a two-year-old modern sculpted beauty. (PS)
