So what you’re looking at are the results of a little experiment I did to see if I could get some plants to self seed. The first photo is Swiss chard leaves actually growing back on the original stem that’s been topped. The other two are seedlings that sprouted up after I shook out some of the seeds on the original plants as I was harvesting the seeds for planting in a different garden.

I’ve also tried this with two types of kale, but I think harlequin beetles are them all.

One reason I wanted to do this is that I’ve been planning out a new garden that’s the biggest gardening project I’ve ever had. I want that garden to be as self-sustaining as possible.
