An Ozark man has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly beating a woman to death with a gardening tool.

Derrick Bryton Alling, born in 1986, was booked into the Christian County Jail on Friday, Sept. 26.

The homicide happened on or about Thursday, Sept. 25.

The victim was not named in online court records that were publicly available on Monday morning.

But according to the prosecutor’s request for a warrant, Alling is accused of repeatedly striking the victim “about the head and face with a gardening or scraping tool causing numerous fractures to her skull.”

The prosecutor wrote that the victim’s husband stated that Alling had been threatening to harm the victim. Alling is alleged to be the beneficiary of the victim’s trust and had been demanding his inheritance from the victim, the prosecutor wrote.

According to the victim’s husband, the victim had been recording Alling “acting aggressively and violently towards her within weeks of her murder.”

Alling is also charged with one count of armed criminal action.

He does not yet have an attorney listed as representing him.

This story will be updated when more information is available.
