I'm looking for ideas on what to do on top of this Koi pond turned gravel filled pit in our yard. We arranged those decorative stones we found on top for fun, but I'm wondering if I can just start dumping potted plants, dead leaves, mulch, compost over the area over time and plant grass. I plan to be here for several years.
We haven't decided if we want to just put concrete over top next year, so I don't want to spend money on topsoil or turf only to rip it up.
Would love your thoughts and creative ideas

I’d consider a pizza oven or a fire pit on some pavers. If you want to eventually grow grass, you’d have to remove quite a bit of stone, maybe 8-12″, and then add soil. I’m not the most knowledgeable, but from what I’ve read here, grass won’t grow well if there’s only a few inches of soil over rock.
