Fiddle friends: about two years ago, I bought a huge fiddle leaf from Armstrong.. but when it arrived, it was infested with these moths that I couldn’t get rid of. After two years I’d improper watering due to these pests, it got sick and went bye bye. Armstrong agreed to replace it with another fiddle (pictured).
I’d love some tips on care! It’s in south facing window. Our place gets tons of light. Would love advice on how often to water and fertilize. Thank you!

iwould water her in general once a week but only when the superficial soil is really dry ,so in a heated living room during wintertime or in a hot place anyway it can be necessary to give water twice a week or even more often …. she is really a nice tree with impressive huge leaves ; she really takes up a lot of space so in the near future you you wont be able to avoid trimming her ; but i would leave her in her current shape , she is a beautiful tree !
Well whoever told you to spray instead of watering is a complete idiot. That isn’t a thing. Plants need a thorough watering each time. 10-14 is probably a good starting point. But really no one can accurately tell you how often to water, as it depends on many factors.
Temperature, humidity, light exposure, type of soil, drainage, size of roots/rootball, etc. Water when the top few inches is completely dry. Use finger or chopstick to test moisture level before watering. These tend to get droopy leaves when thirsty.
Hello 👋 beautiful tree! I’ve had my fiddle leaf fig for 8 years now so I have some tips for you!
Firstly, love that it’s south facing window. Regarding watering, ideally that pot would have a drainage hole to avoid any water sitting at the base and causing root rot. When watering these trees you want to fully soak the soil until the water runs out of the pot, only when majority of the soil is dry.
Warmer months – water every 7 days or so.
Cooler months – water every 10+ days (obviously if the plant is showing signs of dehydration, water sooner). I fertilise mine not too often in winter, but come summer they have a seafood solution fertiliser every second water.
