Another common name is silk tree. I’ve seen a lot of these in the southeast US.

Mimosa. I saw a lot of them in California. Messy, invasive, and they die fairly quickly and fall apart.

They grow anywhere, invasive. Stucturally very unsound, whole branches will just snap off of healthy looking trees with no warning.

Momosa tree. Invasive, has lots of seed babies everywhere, and messes up waterways.

Might be worth looking up the native plant society for that state and informing them. They often have a cooperative relationship with the parks dept and can influence what’s done in some cases.
