




First picture is the day before overseeding. Cut the lawn to about 2 inches. Second picture is the first cut. The overseed was recommended after battling crabgrass and spurge pretty much all year long.
There are still some small spots that I need to get rid of clumping fescue, but overall it’s a lot better. In the last photo you can see where I took out a chunk of Bermuda that stuck out. Local lawn care company aerated twice, seeded, and put down starter fertilizer. They used their own mix of rye and kbg.
I started off running my irrigation system 3 times a day, 5 minutes a zone. I bumped it up to 4 times a day, 7 minutes a zone and that worked out fine. I know it might be considered overwatering territory, but I was very concerned about the seed drying out.
I probably could have waited for the lawn to dry out more, but we have a newborn so things are a little hectic and I need to get chores done when I have the time lol
