I hope this isn't from overwatering 🙁 My family has a track record of watering my plants even when I tell them not to.

  1. If you are concerned about overwatering – remove this little guy from the potting mix asap. Let it dry out. Check the roots for any signs of root rot (smelly, brown, mushy). Does the plant itself feel soft or mushy (not a good sign) or firm to the touch (means it’s okay)? This probably looks like a scar from physical damage – did anything happen to it? If so – the scar will disappear after it sheds the old pair of leaves and the new pair emerges underneath.

  2. It’s a callus from some kind of external damage. It looks well-formed, just fairly fresh. Leave it alone, don’t let it get wet, and once it turns really white and tough, you can repot the plant properly. It’ll be fine!
