Debris and destruction from an early morning crash following an alleged carjacking in Spring Garden were still visible when NBC10 visited the scene after the sun came up on Saturday.
According to police, a carjacking occurred in the area of 19th Street and Spring Garden Avenue, with the car eventually crashing into another car as it zoomed down the intersection.
The crash was caught on camera in multiple angles, with videos showing the carjacked car slam into another car, causing them both to spin out of control and crash into poles and other cars parked on the side of the road.
The two people in the carjacked car got out and fled the scene, and the driver of the other car is in stable condition, police said.
Police say they are still looking for the two people that fled and their condition is unknown.
“Terrifying and that’s horrible,” said Camille, who in the area. “I mean, I hope the other person who was hit is okay.”
People who live in the area were left picking up the debris on Saturday, with things like glass and car parts scattered.
“There is just debris everywhere here. So it’s definitely scary that this happened,” Camille said.
Camille said not only is her fence smashed from the incident, she also found some debris in her backyard.
However, despite the mess, she said she considers herself lucky that her car was not parked in a spot that received damage.
She says she sometimes parks her car in a spot that got a direct hit.
She also feels sorry for her neighbor, Cameron O’Donnell, whose car did get damaged.
“It’s frustrating. I’ve had the car for like a year and a half and It’s like the third time something has happened to it. So.”
Cameron said he is just hoping insurance covers the cost of repairs.
As for Philadelphia police, they say the crash remains an active investigation.
The crash was at least the third hit-and-run crash in Philly from Friday, Sept. 26 to Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, with two deadly hit-and-run crashes occurring Friday night in the city as well.
The three crashes are not considered connected.
