Welcome to SMGB!
Good morning, Saturday Morning Garden Blog-Friends old and new! This cheerful long-running tradition appears every Saturday morning at 9am Eastern, and lasts well into the week as conversations percolate. A core crew of us reads every comment, as far into the week as it goes.
Anyone who likes to garden or talk about gardening or gardening-adjacent topics and whatever they devolve into…Jump on in!
Good Morning Everyone! Ninkasi has a beautiful blue pot with plants and stones on her garden patio. We all have admired it for a long time. About a year ago, I put out the idea of doing a Blue Pot Diary. And this is it! Your pots, neighbors’ pots, pots you see in stores, outside or inside pots. If you have blue pots for cooking your garden and/or farmers market hauls, post a photo.
See those toads in the heading photo, they’re sitting on MY blue pot. It’s very tall and has no holes in the bottom, It was a gift from a gardener who was thinning out their gardening stuff including all sorts of pots….
So….I turned the pot into a pedestal for the toads. They are from the wonderful Hafner’s Garden Center here. Mr. CNY did the arrangement and I promised I’d give him credit. He gets a kick out of being mentioned. Today he’s up in the NYS North Country playing with his brother’s band at an early Oktoberfest. Hoping to get you a photo.
Neighbors have blue pots! These next 2 photos were all in the same yard.
And a blue pot with flower arrangement at my nearby food cooperative. It’s plastic but a nice color. And the plants are a nice coordinating color.
Can’t leave without a garden haul photo. This was earlier in August. Things are really winding down. Lots more cherry sized tomatoes and a few zucchini. Those were a real wash out this summer. I hear stories of an abundance of zukes but not in my garden. I will have a LOT of rattlesnake pole bean seeds for next year. I missed a bunch and they grew huge. Letting them dry on the vines. Near the end of next week is supposed to be a night time temperature dip into the high 30’s I’ll be picking anything left except the kale and collards.
Post your blue pot photos! Even if it’s a multi shade of blue colored blue pot. I think the only other color that’s as popular is the orange clay.
I’m going early to the big farmers market here. I should be back around late morning.
Thanks as always for dropping by. We hope we provide some respite from all that’s going on out there. 💖
