Gardeners’ World viewers were deeply touched by a poignant piece featuring Adam Frost at Bedfords Park Walled Garden, not far from Romford. A team of local volunteers rejuvenated the 18th-century kitchen garden of an estate, now led by retired horticulture lecturer Lois Amos.
Adam praised Lois for her leadership and the volunteer group’s enthusiasm while touring the revived garden, reports the Express. He said: “Lois, you have got an amazing group of volunteers, haven’t you? They seem to have the same passion about the place that you have.”
Lois, agreeing with a chuckle, responded: “Yes, I’ve infected them with it,” which led Adam to jest: “You have infected them, knowing you.”

Detailing her hopes for Bedfords Park, Lois said: “We try to instill into everybody that this is a very historic setting, and that these types of places need protection and conservation, and, you know, they need using and loving.”
Adam warmly echoed her sentiment, saying: “I couldn’t put it better. You’ve just given me goosebumps. You have honestly, it’s like, I think, in a way, it’s that sense of legacy, brilliant, absolutely.”
An emotional Lois replied tearfully: “Thank you. I’ve gone all gooey. Now I’ve gone all emotional.”
Adam then offered comforting words, “Bless you,” before they shared a warm embrace.
The segment, which aired on BBC Two, left viewers deeply moved, as seen in the numerous comments. One viewer said: “What a wonderful lady and community! This segment made me cry. More of these truly inspiring stories, please!” Another said: “Fantastic and inspiring. Adorable hug at the end of the item and tears in my eyes too!”.
Several others echoed similar sentiments, with one saying: “This was a delight to watch last night. What a beautiful garden,” and another admitting: “Lump in throat..it was such a beautiful piece. Just heartwarmingly lovely.”
