A sparrowhawk, a small bird of prey that often visits gardens looking for its prey, was spotted by city resident Linda Ford on her garden fence.
Mrs Ford was looking out her window when she spotted the small creature.
She said: “It was in our garden in WR4.
“I just happened to be looking out of our kitchen window about 4pm (on Tuesday).
“Last time I saw one about a year ago, it had caught a pigeon.
“However, that was a grisly tale.”
According to The Wildlife Trust, the sparrowhawks are one of the UK’s smallest birds of prey and are excellent hunters of birds.
They tend to be caught eating small species, such as finches, sparrows, and tits, and usually ambush their prey from a perch.
