I’m trying to prep my backyard for new sod next month when it cools down (Southern California). I was digging up the existing sprinkler pipes to check for leaks and I came across this semi-circular pipe between two heads. Is this normal? Seems like it would add a lot more pressure to the pipe and glue/joints. Would it be better to just straight-line it from head to head? Any insight would be appreciated. I inherited this irrigation from a previous owner.

Lol wut.
It’s normal to bend about that much at the most. Just can’t do that with and fittings. When glueing tee’s or coupling, the pvc need to be straight coming out of the fittings. My rule of thumb is 1ft straight, burry small section before bending the pipe.
Bending is normal and a 90 would create an unnecessary joint and friction loss
