I don’t know what type of pine tree this is.. it’s in my neighbor’s property but was perfect for providing privacy…. Not sure why but the neighbour decided to chop off about 3 feet from the top. Looks so ugly now. She apologized and says she will do whatever we ask to fix it… is there anything we can do?

Wow neighbors really don’t like privacy anymore huh. I would love a natural privacy hedge or wall to seclude me from neighbors. Not sure why people hack them just to be able to see your neighbors property now ?
These are arborvitae. They may sprout and recover a bit to take the knobby-ness out of the tops but it will be several years. I don’t know that there is any fix for it.
If those are her trees, then it’s her free will to do what she wants with them.
They will never regrow, since pine doesn’t grow from old wood.
it is a cedar hedge
made up of 7-10 eastern white cedars. they will recover.
replacement cost of an eastern white cedar is like 300 each.
let them regrow
Wait… am I reading incorrectly or misunderstanding? These trees are on her property, right? Very nice of her to offer to help remedy the situation, but these are hers to do with as she sees fit, so I wouldn’t be pressing a 72 year old widow to hold up that bargain…
