Britain’s biggest veg growers are showcasing their giant produce at the UK National Giant Vegetables Championships, part of the Malvern Autumn Show this weekend. Veteran competitor Peter Glazebrook, 81, has entered 24 specimens, including a 4.34kg aubergine and a 13.87kg radish – both personal bests. Meanwhile, Bristol amateur Miles Yates-Tily hauled a 27st white pumpkin from his allotment with the help of six people before squeezing it into the back of his Toyota Rav 4. The event, which drew 13 Guinness World Records last year, is expected to attract more than 65,000 visitors.
