Hi everyone!! I hope this fits in the rules. We moved into our first home last spring and ever since I have been reeling over how to make our front yard more “us”. I’d like to add garden beds potentially, but have been really struggling with layout.
My ideas include:
– Planting some type of small tree on the left lawn, having a bed around that with a stone border and maybe something like hostas?
On the right side, I’d do a larger garden bed maybe with some shrubs OR do a pollinator garden
– Creating garden beds along either side of the walkway

Either way, I’m still struggling to picture either option and don’t feel super attach to either. appreciate any and all suggestions or ideas!! Thank you and happy gardening! 🙂

Hey that’s cool you want to update stuff to make it look more you… First off I remove up all the vegetation underneath the windows on both sides.
Next I would go to some very nice subdivisions and drive-thru to get ideas on how they did their landscaping. Just know if you take pictures be inconspicuous and try not to get anything personal in your pictures.

Congratulations on your lovely home! I love your plan to make it more YOU!
I have a couple suggestions. There are some programs where you can snap a pic of your home upload it and AI will show you multiple different options! Pretty cool!
    Don’t forget to google it!
Both Google and Pinterest have some excellent sites for this as well And my most favorite! Drive through some lush, expensive neighborhoods and get some ideas! You can discreetly snap a pic and duplicate it.
Good luck and happy gardening! 🩷

Call 811 to check for utilities first.

I would have the pollinator garden on the left since it appears to get more sun and it would be easy to fill that whole area.

On the edges, put in plants that stay full and interesting year round, but don’t get too tall. Purple muhly grass is beautiful. On the inside, place periennial flowers that bloom at different times. Drop in a few evergreen shrubs to match what you already have.

On the right, add another small tree like Eastern Redbud or Dogwood. Sedges grow well under trees and are a native evergreen (unlike hostas).
