On Saturday, September 20, volunteers gathered at Anthony and Christine Oliver’s Park Lane residence at 9.30am to transport papier-mâché accessories for the Wimborne Minster Flower Festival.
The parade was led by Reverend Canon Andrew Rowland and Reverend Marianne Mangham, alongside Wareham’s town crier Jacqui Hall.

Anthony Oliver, the minster’s press officer, said: “There were plenty of onlookers who, I think, were most amused by what they were seeing, especially the Dinosaur.”
The parade, featuring the Dorset flag, passed through Willow Walk amid the Wimborne Food Festival setup and continued through Hanham Road South Car Park, Mill Lane, High Street and into the minster.
Christine Oliver, the festival designer, expressed gratitude for the support received from numerous volunteers and flower clubs.
She said: “The whole Festival could not be done without everyone’s support and now all we want is the Public to come and enjoy the event.”
The festival, showcasing ‘The Delights of Dorset’, opens on Friday, September 26, and runs until Monday, September 29.
Entry costs £7.50, with all proceeds funding a proposed ramp and improved steps to enhance accessibility to the historic church.
