Once upon a time (April 9, 2024, to be exact), my girlfriend gifted me a cute little pickle plant cutting (Delosperma echinatum). It was this adorable, delicate thing that barely took up any space on my windowsill. I was determined to keep it alive!

Fast forward a year to September 24, 2025… this little baby has transformed into a full-blown pickle monster. I swear, it’s like the plant went to the botanical gym and bulked up on miracle grow. It’s HUGE, it’s thriving and I love it with all my heart.

  1. Did you prune it so that it grows this way? mine seems more concentrated instead of spreading (it’s 1 month old tho)

Did you add any fertilizer to it or just sun and some water? Beautiful!

Lol, best way to get me to succeed at something? Insinuate I’ll fail. My subconscious still has that knee jerk contrarian reaction, like “oh yeah? I’ll show *you*!” I never even realize I’m doing it until later, but I can’t deny the pattern throughout my life 🤣

Even a kind, “oh don’t worry about *that*” will awaken the nerd in me, to read everything I can about *that*, and succeed at *that*.

Idk if that’s *anything at all* like your motivations in keeping this plant happy and healthy. It just made me chuckle, the way you phrased the title.

    Also, gorgeous plant!!
