I was gifted a large cutting with several leaves which turned yellow and died. It had little node (?) thingies forming but no aerial roots, I think I buried it too deep and it got root rot. The stem is slanted in a way that made it hard to place it upright as the leaves would have been practically on the floor. I only watered every 10 days or so but I think the initial soil was just too moist. I was on my last leaf and finally dug everything up to see what was going on. I cut the stem to where it was green with no rot, sanitized with hydrogen peroxide and rinsed, and then placed back in the soil gently atop, making sure the stem wasn’t under the soil.
I also mixed in perlite as the “monstera mix” soil I got didn’t seem to have a ton of volcanic rock and was kinda dense. But it continues to decline. Leaf is curling as of today. It has a good amount of the little nodules growing but I think this last leaf is going to die. In desperation I just put her in a bucket with a little water.
It’s in the corner next to two big windows so it gets some direct sunlight and indirect depending on the time of day. The plant that it came from was in front of a huge window.
The browning under the leaf along the veins seems like something other than just overwatering or shock. Have inspected for thrips. I do have neem spray and anti thrips spray as another plant on the other side of the house had thrips. Please help 😞 I don’t want to lose her!!!
PS will post photos from before she lost all the leaves in the comments
