The next meeting for the Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club is 11 a.m. Oct. 2 for members and the program will start at 1 p.m. for the public at the Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd. in Avon Lake, according to a news release.

The focus of the program is bees and their connection to flowers, the release said.

Marilyn Teeple, president of the Lorain County Beekeepers Association, will share the importance of beekeeping: the impact of honeybees, their role in pollinating flowers, gardens and crops. Teeple will explain the importance of protecting this precious natural resource, the release said.
