give us a bit more info..what is this?what do you think is wrong?

What exactly has you concerned? Was this grown from seed? Looks fine, just keep it well watered through the fall. Probably too small to have an identifiable root flare. I’d plan on mulching around it at least by spring to keep the grass/weeds away and help hold moisture.

Is that spot fine for a medium sized tree? Maples are a big no no near septic tanks.

Tree itself seems to be planted well root flare should be near the surface and I also recommend a fence to keep critters away.

Looks fine. Put some mulch around it but don’t volcano.

The important part is the part we can’t see. Did you spread the roots out, sort of like a flared skirt? Or are they all tangled, bent upward at the ends, or wrapped in circles from outgrowing the pot? I dig a wide hole, put a mound of dirt in the center, and try to let the roots fall down around that. It’s never perfect, but I try. The roots should be aiming downward and outward.

  7. It’s looking pretty sketchy. I’ll cut it down for 500, plus chipper rental is another 500, plus hazard tree fee is another thou for doing the dirty work. I’m also booked out til 2030, but I take money up front

I couldn’t imagine this being so stressful. You put it in the ground, congrats, that’s it. Go back inside

  9. He’ll yeah you did (I’m just kidding idk why this was shown to me)

Google how much water it needs when a sapling.

It’s a Maple tree, not much to it, plant it and wait. Just make sure for the first couple months you check the soil weekly to make sure it doesn’t dry out before it roots.

It’s cute. When I first glanced at the first picture, I thought you planted poison ivy, so the title of your post seemed very apropos.

Water it everyday for 2 weeks so that I can get established. Then start watering it 2-3 times a week for another couple weeks. Then you can drop off to once a week until it’s fully established, which might take 2-5 years. They create these bag things that you can put on the tree once it’s bigger and more mature and it’ll slow release water. Watering is obviously weather dependent. Use your judgement.

Stake it up so wind doesn’t damage it. Mulch the base so that it doesn’t dry out as fast.

And then leave it alone. Let the tree do its thing.

  14. Are all the roots intact as much as possible before planting? Did you mix the ground soil with the pot soil? Other than that it should be fine. There might be some transplant shock but that is ok. As long as you water consistently with what the tree needs.

A lot of people saying this is fine and yea it probably is but that soil does look like it’s going to sink down a bit more and I bet it is planted a little too deep. But it will be “fine”

If you just planted it, you could get a wide shovel and prop it up a little bit and put some more soil down beneath it. And maybe compress the soil a little bit (just push it down with your hand) Also it looks like potting soil quite a bit, maybe mix some of the surrounding soil in a little bit more so it doesn’t create a little pocket that’s loamier than the surrounding area?

But honestly it’ll be fine either way.

  16. It looks like you’ve got the right end in the dirt!
