A derelict part of Longridge Recreation Ground is to become a ‘wellness and community garden’ after the town council secured the lease of the plot.

Longridge Town Council has taken on the lease from Lancashire County Council and has big plans to convert the site which, at one time, was the site of Longridge Football Club changing rooms.

Councillor Robert Walker, who is the town’s deputy mayor and also runs Longridge Men’s Shed, said a community consultation would take place to get ideas for the future of the plot.

He also believes the site could be a good home for the mural which adorned the Berry Lane Co-op earlier this year. The mural was created by Preston-based artist Prem Sanker S earlier after the building was damaged in a ram raid incident which saw the shop’s cash machine stolen.
