So my brother had a calathea that was not doing so well. Since I already have a calathea that’s doing great, I figured I could nurse his one back to health. I gave it some plant food, a water, and then have just let it sit next to my existing plant. It has been a week and the poor plant has gone even further downhill fast. I’m worried I used too much plant food and poisoned it. Any advice? Can this plant be saved?

We should inspect the roots to see if there is any life left but I’m afraid it’s already too late.
Could possibly cut and prop the one green leaf? See if anything happens from that 🫂
The only viable option is below ground level. The visible part is gone.
Take it out and inspect it. If there are some healthy rhizomes it can push out some new growths, given enough time.
I would chop it completely down to soil level and leave it alone, tbh. That leaf has no chance.
And if the roots still look good then you may need to change the potting soil because it may have had too much fertilizer.
baby that’s a lost cause
All I can say is Jesus did raise Lazarus from the dead
I’m not an expert but I would recommend cutting off the dried leaves ( also if the soil is dry depot and cut off any dead squishy roots), and ONLY water when you can stick your finger in the soil and it’s loose and dry. Also I heard putting it in a ziplock bag helps if you live in dry conditions (since it’s a tropical plant) good luck I hope she survives!
